Am I the only one who thinks it's significant that Richard Alpert is named Richard Alpert? As in Timothy Leary's associate from the Harvard LSD research... the Alpert who went on to change his name to Ram Dass, the Hindu/Buddhist (dharma anybody?) guru?

Wow... thats cool! I didn't know Timothy Leary had an associate name Richard Alpert. Thats crazy! Next thing you know Richard will be telling people to "think for yourself, question authority"

One of the Lost executive producers, from http://www.movieweb.com/news/NEuxzxxAYwtGyz

Is Hawking named after Stephen Hawking? Why doesn't he get old?

Damon Lindelof: You may be confusing Hawking (a woman in Desmond's "Flashes Before Your Eyes" episode) with Richard Alpert... Ben's right hand man. Hawking is indeed named after Stephen. Alpert is also named after someone famous, but you're gonna have to look it up for yourself.
