If Radzinsky would just think a little, he would remember Jin asking if a plane landed the day before.

Not for nothin' - but LSD is NOT 'truth serum'.

I'm curious as to what it was in that sugar cube.

if im right sodium pentothall is truth serum. in a large dose the drug causes the subject to mix fantasy with reality. thats probably why they didnt belive him

Yeah, the "he's our you" dude did say something along the lines of maybe it wasn't a good idea to give him an entire drop of the stuff?

LSD is not truth serum, but back in the day like that, anytime they (governments, scientists, etc.) tried to do something with the mind, the first ingredient was usually acid.

LSD was not made illegal until around '66 - '68, I think.  "Majestyk" was another CIA program involving LSD and "mind control."  There are plenty of allegations of folks being unwittingly dosed by government agents.

And Castaņeda later admitted that his work was fictitious, though it earned him a doctorate in anthro...

Right, but it was illegal in 1977, which was when the scene was set.

Granted, but I was responding to BobBX's pithy comment just above.  Not that government experimentation on unwitting citizens is in any way legal or reasonable, just that the LSD use did not compound the issue at the time...

LSD is not too difficult to put together, and they [DI] were a bunch of scientists with labs... Whose jurisdiction is the island under, anyway? Could LSD be legal - or perhaps not made illegal - under local governing law?

If Radzinsky would just think a little, he would remember Jin asking if a plane landed the day before.

Or... He remembered full-well what Jin had said and is sitting on the information.

Grin Grin Grin This was by far the Best Episode in the past 2 weeks!

The only thing I wanted to add (if someone hasn't already) is that the Author of A Separate Reality, Carlos Castineda confessed on his deathbed to have "made it all up" - the entire Yaqui magic and Hightened Awareness, the egg-shaped aura, and all the other "teachings" of Don Juan... I was a big fan of his during my own, ahem, "spiritual journey" with more sugar cubes than Sayid could eat. Heck, I even had a VHS copy of the shaman exercises "Tensegrity"!

So, "A Separate Reality" may have been a red herring (hoax to a clue), or it may have been a clue to a hoax. Hmmmmm...

Either way, last night's show was 20 times better than I had expected. LOST = Teh B3ST SH0W 3VAR!

Perhaps the DI is just like our group of survivors and doesn't talk to each other.

Granted, but I was responding to BobBX's pithy comment just above.  Not that government experimentation on unwitting citizens is in any way legal or reasonable, just that the LSD use did not compound the issue at the time...

My "pithy comment" LOL, okay. I was just responding to the question asked by toadsage asking if anyone has seen pineapple express. I feel the need to ask this now though, what do you mean by "...LSD use di not compound the issue at the time"??

E.B. Farnum...er, Oldham... was cooking stuff out in his hermit squalor that probably went above and beyond LSD.  If there ever was a guy in the 70's who could expand on the formulation beyond simple LSD9 or 25 into something that would be a fast-acting truth trip, that person would be a prime target for DHARMA recruitment as well someone that would be better off squirreled away on The Island rather than working for the CIA.

Of course my topic title is facetious as it was not only probably NOT acid, but also it's virtually impossible to read while tripping.

Not that I would know or anything.
