Sawyer thinks he's got it all figured out. And I think he does. Now if everybody else would just play his game, they could settle down real nice and wait for Locke to come back...because that's what Sawyer at least is waiting for, right? The return of Locke?
I don't know, Mrs. Alpert. That was one of the things that was troubling me about last night's eppy -- I'm not sure that he is anymore. It seemed to me like he's sort of given up on that whole thing, and just decided to live the rest of his life happy with Juliet in 1977. I think (I'm afraid?) if nobody had ever come back, he'd be perfectly pleased to just putter along as Dharma's sheriff until he retired. And I don't like that...

That's weird... I'm usually not in the bottom half of voters. I still thought this was a pithy episode. Even South Park was better than last night's Lost. (I know, blasphemy)

New Poster Here....I have really enjoyed reading everything on the site.
I gave 5x10 a 5 (five). It did provide some answers:
1. Why did Sayid go to LA to help Hurley. 2. How did he know to go to LA to help Hurley. 3. Why Sayid was no longer working for Ben. 4. How Sayid ended up on the Flight 316.
Even the ending of Ben being shot was not much of a shocker to me. You could see it coming when Jin steps out of the van with flashlight and gun...you just know what is going to happen next....or is that just me?
More questions are definitely raised...what happens to Ben in 2007, if anything.

Hi Alien Entourage! And welcome to the craziness. I think a lot of people felt like you did.
I had forgotten how much I liked Sayid. That's another reason why I rated this one so highly. I mean, we know some things about him, but this episode filled in some blanks and reminded us why he's one of the main characters.
I definitely did not expect Jin to have to call LaFleur to find out if Sayid was lying! The DI really absorbed him, and Sawyer, Juliet, etc. Old-school Jin would have been like, "Heck ya, get out of here! What are you waiting for?"
This might sound really strange, but I felt like this episode was like putting Sayid into a many-sided glass bottle, and watching how each side reflects the action. It was so multifaceted, and...bright. Clarifying. Yes yes, it was dark emotionally. But lots of things made sense by the end of the show. At least I thought so.

I thought Sayid was going to shoot Jin... I almost shouted at the TV, Don't shoot Jin! Bam, Ben's on the ground.

i'm so torn with this episode.
i liked it better than the previous 2 episodes, but i don't really want to rate it higher than a 7 (what i gave last weeks).
i liked the fact we got some back story, rather than just island story. sayid shooting ben was a wow moment for me. i knew that's what his 'purpose' was, but i didn't think he would do it. and i don't think ben will die. i think sayid going through with shooting him was enough.
i'm liking sawyer more each episode, i like how he's become the glue, the leader, the one in charge. i actually feel sorry for julliet because of the looks between sawyer & kate.
i liked oldham. although i agree juggy, lsd? really? that's all it took to get SAYID to talk? that's dumb. sayid is the master torturer, he can endure much more.
radzinsky is taking up too much time on the show. he's getting on my nerves. either give us the dirt on him & his drawings or be done with him.
i feel let down. like there's so much more and it's just not there. sort of like they're telling the story of the outskirts without getting to the meat. i need meat. i'm still hoping for that great episode.
i think i'll give it a 5. pretty middle of the road. And Sayid was so handsome. Just had to put that out there, too. amen sister! he was HOT last night!

We got Sawyer's story in LaFleur, now we have Sayid's story. I was saying...somewhere...that these characters all have to embrace their true natures; Sawyer learned how to con so he could be LaFleur and be the sheriff. Sayid understands that he's a killer. Lots of people disliked the fact that there wasn't a lot of character development, just action and mythology. But now TPTB have focusing on the heart of our favorite characters....and people aren't liking it. Where did they go wrong?
And Sayid was so handsome. Just had to put that out there, too. amen sister! he was HOT last night!Yah. And we got to see different hair styles....clean, dirty, brushed, down, pulled back....ah!

WHERE'S THE BEEF?!? (Sorry -- couldn't resist. LOL. I agree about Radzinsky -- he's getting on my nerves too.) I definitely did not expect Jin to have to call LaFleur to find out if Sayid was lying! The DI really absorbed him, and Sawyer, Juliet, etc. Old-school Jin would have been like, "Heck ya, get out of here! What are you waiting for?" Me, too! I was like "What? Why do you need to call LaFleur? What's up with you?" Then for a second there I was afraid Sayid was going to shoot Jin. This might sound really strange, but I felt like this episode was like putting Sayid into a many-sided glass bottle, and watching how each side reflects the action. Wow. That's deep. Like wow... deep. Have you been getting into the Dharma Sugar Cubes box?

I was most disappointed with this episode ( except for the last segment with the burning bus and the shooting of Ben). I find the Dharma characters genuinely creepy and not at all engaging...rather like Nikki and Paulo. Initially Sayid was one of my favorite characters because he was resourceful and got along with everyone. The sullen man in this episode made me not interested in his flashbacks at all. The interactions between the Losties and their challenge with the enigmas of the island was what got me hooked initially but the direction this season has lost any of that. Seems to be all about violence. And by the way where are Rose and Bernard and all the remainder Oceanic survivors? And not to see Locke, nor Sun in any significant way is disappointing. So I would give this episode a 1 or a 2.

They a beating it into our heads with Radzinsky and the model of the Swan. ENOUGH! He is getting annoying, move the story along time. I did not get much from Sayid background. He killed a chicken, Ben played mind games on him (he does on everyone). I feel they are stalling for the finale.

I completely agree. Are they trying to make us hate Radzinsky? He's annoying, boring, and has absolutely no point to the story.

I tried to re-watch the show last night to get the parts I'd missed or only been half-paying-attention-to on Wednesday. I could not stay awake. I kept waking up and having to re-play. I finally gave up and figured I got the gist of it. I've never done that with a Lost episode. This is sad. And, I've agreed with a good many of the posts on this thread. Thus, I decided to go ahead and rate it a 5, which is probably the lowest I figure I could give any Lost episode. Sad sad state of affairs.

I completely agree. Are they trying to make us hate Radzinsky? He's annoying, boring, and has absolutely no point to the story. I agree as well. I gave the episode a 7 since it did create a bit of a cliff-hanger. How is the shooting of Ben explained? It should be on video tape that Ben broke Sayid out... why shoot Ben? Where does Sayid go now? It feels like things are going to come to a head which is why I give the episode a higher ranking than I would have if this hadn't happened. Radzinsky needs to go... who the hell is this guy anyway? Too many chiefs in this camp if you ask me.

I'm posting without reading anyone else's post. I gave it a 9. The story is cohesing so well. I always love Sayid episodes - they are so filled with pathos. His choice to kill Ben was such a very dark, difficult decision for him. He hated doing it as much as he hated killing every other person he's killed. I am very concerned about what is happening with Ben and what will this shooting mean to the story. However, for just right now, at this point in the story I care very much about Sayid, who is not an Other, not a Dharmaite, not with Ben. He is utterly isolated. That is powerful.
