When Ben tells Sun that he's going to take one of the out-riggers to the other island he suggests that she could help row. He then pulls off the arm sling that he has been wearing and tosses it aside. It could be that his injury wasn`t too bad or the island has finally taken a liking to him.

The island probably has certain healing properties regardless. It don't think it would make a difference if it presently "likes you" or not.

But...didn't Ben say that he got a tumor because it was his time to leave the island? I think to Locke, that it healed Locke but made himself sick.

That's an interesting idea, I didn't even think about it when he took his sling off! Nice catch, some of the simplest things escape me sometimes. But yes, now we're left to decide whether he was faking an injured arm or whether the Island is healing him. I feel like it's the latter because I don't really see a reason for him to be in a sling for dramatic effect, what purpose would it have served?

Ben looked pretty banged up in the hydra when the resurrected Locke sees him. I wonder if this was after Ben`s sojourn to the other island and what happened to him this time?

You think he made it off Hydra?  I would guess someone found him by the boats all bashed about the head.  Probably Cesar.  They probably just dragged him back to their camp and put him with the rest of the injured.

Come to think of it - Ben probably was found by Caesar. Ben`s back-pack was possibly left where he threw it - I wonder what secrets are in that pack?

i heard on a youtube theory blog that the reeason tehy heal on the island is because if they are in a time BEFORE the injury has happened.. the body heals itself to like t was before the injury... it was never really stated what year it was on teh island the entire time we've seen the on island festivities... like how locke can walk because he arrived before the fall, and rose because it was before she had her cancer... the blog theory also said that the island we know it through the first few seasons... was in 1996... anyway... its not official info but it makes sense in a way.

Onteresting, but I see no basis to think that is the case.

I think the island being in 1996 (when they originally crashed) is a good theory. Ben may have put the island in a time loop to hide it from Widmore. And the whole healing because it is before the injury thing... I can totally get onboard with that. But at the same time, it could just be the electromagnetism emitted by the island that heals. Ben getting a tumor might just have been a necessary step to get Jack to meet Ben and Juliet etc and all the things that happen after that. They needed to happen and Ben getting a tumor might have been the only way to get it to heppen. I say this because would we be where we are right now if Ben hadn't gotten the tumor and needed to seek out Jack?

Where is this 1996 coming from?  Flight 815 crashed in 2004... they didn't go back in time.

I had just heard that theory somewhere before... I don't remeber where or how it came about. The theory was that Ben had put the island in a loop to hide it from Widmore and that the button being pushed every 108 minutes was to reset that loop. Then when Desmond went out of the hatch and forgot about the button, that caused the island to break out of its loop right in the path of flight 815. Could be crackpot too.

I also don't believe it to be true. Just saying I heard it before.
