Can someone help me sort this out, im a little confused here.

So Sayid was one of the people who disappeared during the flash on the plane? that would explain why he is in 1977? correct?
 
OR did he sneak off after the plane crash and somehow get back to the mainland?


and while i have this thread here I would also like to know WHERE(WHEN) THE HELL ARE THESE PEOPLE (sun/frank etc...) what year? do we know?

I used to pride myself on being able to keep up with this show and explain to the simple fans at work whats going on, however I feel like my keep-up-ability is winding down the drain.

Sayid disappeared from the plane and time jumped with Jack, Kate and Hurley, he just didn't land near them.  It looks like Sun and Frank may be headed back to '77 by Smokey Express, if I understood that scene with Christian correctly.

I'm going to go with "Because".  Seriously, I think they are where they need to be.  I do think they will go back in time but maybe they need to be in the present first to obtain information that will assist them in the past.

Are you saying I ramble on and on in my answers, using long winded, never-ending sentences to express what could be said in much smaller, more direct words, thereby conveying the meaning of what I am trying to say in a time frame that takes too long?

My thinking regarding Sayid is this - he is going to attempt to kill Ben in the past since he now knows what young Ben look like. His attempt will fail miserably (you can't alter the past, what happened happened...) - he will inadvertantly cause a major breach of the pact between the Hostiles and DHARMA - this will lead to the purge - especially since Sayid is viewed as a Hostile just so he remains alive....

He's not a child.  He's a Ben-child.  Sayid said in the promo for next week that he now knows what he's supposed to do.  Whatever that is, they're implying it entails firing a gun.  Then again, we all know better than to trust a LOST promo...
