I officially know (or think I know... nothing associated with Lost is ever definitive) what I am going to miss most when this show ends... I have been mostly lurking for 5 years (I can't recall if I started in Season 1 or 2, but I think I didn't start posting until Season 4 and even that has been somewhat sporadic), but I read these posts and discussions and I realize that THIS is what is so much fun about Lost. It's a community of folks that engages in one of the most enjoyable activities there is... good-spirited debate on intellectual points. In my lurking time, I've come to see a lot of the same names over and over again and even though I don't even know their real names or anything about them, I have started to feel a kindred spirit. Some people are so kind and open in their words (first person that comes to mind: Mrs. Alpert), that I've begun to search out their thoughts to stimulate some of my own. I can't think of another show or even general experience (maybe college?) that has even approached this type of relationships. So while I will miss the show, I will the people that I have barely spoken with the most. You all have made this one of the entertaining journeys I've been on from an "entertainment" perspective (TV, books, movies, etc.) Special thanks to Sledge for maintaining something that I am sure has long ago gone from pure fun to mostly responsibility. By the way... "Hi, I'm Tom!"

Hi Tom! I recognize you. What a great post! I feel the same way about this experience. another good thing about this place is that you can be sure we are pretty much all in the same boat with a few things especially LOST. were sometimes other people just don't get us and our love for lost on the "outside" or real life, we all get us on some level here. whether we agree about our views on lost or not, we all understand our love for lost.

You've both gotten me kinda teary-eyed here! Tom, you especially, that was a hello-good-bye-celebration-eulogy of sorts! And totally spot on. After I scared or annoyed away my friends and family with my Lost-rantings, this was the only place I could turn to where people would understand my geeky (and sometimes shameful) love/obsession with a television show. I think one of the reasons people here are so nice is because the fundamentals of Lost are, as Mrs H says, what brought us together. But I'm not going to try to rehash what you guys have said. And it's not over yet! I fully expect more postings from both of you in the coming months.

You guys rock. Thanks! I was thinking that the only other entertainment vehicle that has gathered this large of a "cult" following would be Harry Potter (maybe I underestimate others). I remember how much chatter was going on right after each book and right before an impending release. Fortunately we don't have to wait as long for each season (although, it sometimes seems like it) as we did for each of the last couple of books. "Lost" may not have the same numbers of people as HP, but the complexity is much deeper. Of course, it's a lot harder to find people around me that can (or, more importantly, wants to) blather away for hours about the meaning of small details in Lost! Thus the magic of the boards! (Thank God for the internet!)

(Thank God for the internet!) HP and Lord of the Rings both have huge followers If I have anything to say about it, this site will be around long after LOST is gone. I mean, who is going to talk about the upcoming movies, spinoffs, and mass-production of LOST-related merchandise? Or just what their biggest pet peeve is? I hope you post around here more often, Holland!
