Will Locke now "live forever" (not age) like Richard?
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:15:08 AM »
Now that Locke has made the ultimate sacrifice for the island, will he have "eternal life" on it, like Richard? Could Richard have made the same sort of sacrifice eons ago?

I really think they went out of the way to show Locke eating the mango and showing he was really "alive"/not a ghost.. Could be the same as Richard, have they ever shown Richard eating?

I dont think they've ever shown him eating per say. But he does say to Locke the first time they meet (when Locke's "father" was tied to that pole in the others' camp) that the view "never gets old" or something like that.

It is most likely that Richards age is a result of time travel, the idea of time travel does not seem to shock him at all, it is also possible that Ben will live forever as well

We havent seen Richard eating, but we have seen him touch Locke, and his knife when removing the bullet from his leg.
So he's not a ghost.

Where did this ghost idea come from?  I don't think Richard is a ghost.  It has to be related to time travel or some island fountain of youth or something.  In any case I don't think Locke will "live forever".

I don't know about Richard, but we have seen Locke eating before he died.

I agree with tonysee's idea, as eating was one of the evidences that Jesus wasn't a ghost in the Biblical account of His resurrection.

All that tptb have confirmed about Richard is that he doesn't age. The term "ghost" indicates (at least to me) a spirit without a corporeal presence. Richard, Locke, and Christian can interact with material things. We know that Christian and Locke were dead, and brought to the island, and are now walking around, holding babies and eating mangoes. I think the same thing may have happened to Richard.

Of course...that didn't even pop into my head. I should have thought of that, especially since such a big deal was made of "Doubting Thomas" in the other episode. Guess that is one of the ways Locke will prove he is not a ghost...he will eat, he will have people touch him.

This thread is exactly why I love coming to these forums.

This is an idea that is so cool and I would have never thought of it.

Thank you for the food for thought, it will be cool to see how Locke's "status" plays out over these next episodes.

Maybe Locke asks an other about Richard and they reply, "He's our you."

Better than the other way around (rimshot)...
