I gave it an 8.  I considered rating it lower, because in comparison to other episodes this season, it was sort of filler.  But then I thought about it.  Compared to previous season episodes, it was great!  Compared to previous season's filler-type episode is was a 10.  So I settled on 8.  Think about, if an episode like this came in the middle of season 3, everybody would be giving it a 10. We've been so spoiled by all the fantastic episodes this year... Count yourself blessed and don't take it for granite!

I gave this weeks episode a 9.

I took off a point because of James look when he saw her!

This was name LaFleur not about the orchid or anything we might have thought, it was our man James.

What I found rewarding is the continued growth of James.  The writers have been slowly moving him in a direction that his change was subtle and in a way that came naturally.  If we look back at when we first met our con, butt smoking, selfish, cocky, arrogant, wise guy Sawyer and look at who he is now, you wonder.  Was the island instrumental in this metamorphis? As it was in the healing of Jin and Sun's relationship. And Walt's ability to believe in himself, visualize.

A man who had had no control of his life, now has control.  He used his basic instincts of surviving and parlayed them in staying on that island.  He stuck around because he believes Locke in his own way and waited for the people who left.

He developed a relationship with a lady who believes in him, who oddly enough "tamed" him by believing in him and didn't allow herself to be bullied.

His old ways worked for him with Horace to a degree, but was most amazing was his conversation with Richard.  He trusted in himself enough to get them what they needed.

I think this little group that bonded is a closer knit family.  They too had to lie in order to remain on the island.  What I also found interesting is no Faraday!  And still no Rose and Bernard.

Oh not reading much into the cross there and the back of the statue, I am patient enough for that answer.  I have other ones I am waiting for.

We learned some new things, not much, but that is what this season is about, it is laying the ground work for what will come next year.

I also thought the truce deal and who Richard was not held back by the fence, just piques my curiosity enough to tune in two weeks from now.

It is nice to see the DI in action a bit and most assuredly how our group survives. After all James did tell Kate when he went with Locke, I am doing what I always do, survive.  I can't help but think of that little blond headed boy under the bed while he listened to the cries of his mother as she was being killed and then he is father shooting himself on the bed that was protecting him.

As for Juliette/James  Jack/Kate I am frankly fed up with the triangle thing here.  I have said this and will say it again, I hope James stays put, and if he does not end up with Juliette he does not go back to someone who just may help surface the old ways.  Ah love that fickle finger of fate or is it destiny?

Juggy, I write how I feel. I am also have additional inspiration of late Wink Grin  We all have a constant somewhere Grin

P.S.  I did forget one wonderful line of the night when James did refer to the Richards liner, the writers have a sense of humor here and are reading the viewers comments.  this is the yet another time they make fun of themselves

I gave it an eight.

Yes, it may have been low on plot exposition, but it was high on character development.

All the mystery of the story is meaningless unless you care about the characters.

And I'm a Juliet fan - so it was nice to see her happy!

I agree, Mango... it was good for character development, but I just wanted a lot more answers. We spent 3 years with Dharma and we know nothing about them. That made me upset.

Do you think the "flashbacks" we'll get now will be Juliet, Miles, Sawyer, Daniel, and Jin in the Dharma days? I hope we don't just get "current time" 1977 O6-meeting-the-ones-they-left-behind stories. I want to know more about the DI in those 3 years, too.

The way I am looking at this, I know you did not direct to me, but our O6 will experience what happened with the DI so they can truly understand what is about to take place.

I think what people are forgetting this season or maybe not, is that we are being told a story in a way that is not standard.  So they were just giving us a taste of what they will start to share with us.  Paving the way so to speak.

There is a war coming and they are giving us why that is happening slowly providing the events that led up to Ben taking over and Widmore being banished and all the other stuff.

The history of the island will be exposed, gee that glimpse of the statue was a tease a great tease if you ask me.  We have seen many things to lead us in many directions and at the end of this season we will be prepared to go into battle.

IMHO

8 from me.

Filler is when they're walking on the island, giving the ABC tour.  This one got the band, or most of it back together.
Sawyer took the lead role and come through, positioning himself exactly where he needs to be.  There's a new sheriff in town boys!
Didn't expect Horace to be the leader and/or spokesman for Dharma at the time.
I thought it was great.  All of Sawyer's interaction with everyone made me smile.  Knowing that he's going against type and doing what has to be done.

A baby was born too.  That's a big storyline point.  Makes me think that the Ben of the time hasn't taken control from Chuck yet.

Frustration seems to make you very clear when presenting your ideas, then! Sometimes i read through here and my mind can't process what anybody's trying to say, then I get frustrated, so it was good to read what you wrote. I really did feel better after, like the noise went away and I was left with one clear idea.
