Pretty much a filler episode, a 6.

I give it an 8. There is sooo much they could have done with this episode. I was expecting many many DI answers and hardly received anything. The only thing we have confirmed is that Richard was at war with the DI, but that was pretty obvious from Season 3. Only really interesting piece of info, aside from seeing the completed statue, was that the Others can walk through the sonic fence. Sawyer and Juliet hook up, woohoo. Totally not the best episode this season, and I agree, mostly filler.

Come on, TPTB, you were doing so well!

It started off so promising with the reveal of the statue. That part was amazing!!!!! I also love an episode full of Sawyer's one liners and nicknames. I agree they could have shown more of the DI, but looks like we will get more in future episodes. It was really satisfying to see Juliet deliver a baby on the island. I thought that was a big moment for her character. Sawyer's sit down with Richard wad great-I don't think Richard gets talked to like that often.

As for Daniel's horrible crying-blech that was just poor acting, totally not believable-he could use a lesson from Sun! 3 years later, 3 years earlier....we get it all the jumping back and forth was giving me a headache. It did feel a little filler heavy. You can usually tell if an episode is great if there are lots of topics started by the time the episode is over and there weren't too many when I left the chat.

Hard to rate because I think the good stuff was REALLY good and the not so good stuff was REALLY bad.

OH.......and Where are Rose and Bernard....3 years later still didn't see them?HuhHuh??

I agree, the jumping back and forth between 3 years earlier, 3 years later...ug! I was getting headaches and nosebleeds. I was confused about the timeline the entire episode.

Sawyer's one-liners, nicknames, jokes...awesome. I'm glad we got this humor, since the last episode was so dramatic. Lots of good lines tonight. We also got to see how much he's grown.

Also, Richard! Extra points whenever he shows up. Especially when he gives us information like, "Um, your silly fence can't stop me, duh!"

The Sawyer/Juliet thing, though...I'm not sold on it. It was just too, too weird for me. It felt stale; it felt forced. I don't think Sawyer really liked Juliet, he just kind of...attached himself to her because they went through such weird stuff together.

Also...whoa on the new people! In the first 7 minutes, we got, what? Six new names? That was too much for me to follow, especially when they also want me to follow the past/present storyline, which we jump into in media res...

It got a 7 from me, but really it was more like a 6.5. Too much filler, no emotional connection, but there was humor and Mr Alpert, and that saved it.

I agree completely. Too many names with almost no introduction. I was definitely expecting more. I mean, I normally hand out tens like strawberry smoothies on a summer day.

Well, it seems I may not be very popular here because I really liked last nights episode.  I loved seeing Sawyer as the leading man again, it has been way to long.  His character has grown so much since day one on the island.  To me the whole relationship with Juliet did not seem forced at all.  They have validated it with the need and support they give each other.  They have each others back. Sawyer didn't just sleep with her and move on to someone else for fear of commitment.  He made a decision to be happy with someone and it showed in his countenance. However, when Sawyer gets the call from Jin he doesn't tell Juliet showed up.  We know the love square was coming.

The timeline explained why we saw Daniel down in the orchid.  I wonder if Candle is Miles dad because they would be on the compound at the same time.  I'm always happy to see Horace and Richard.  Women could have babies on the island!?

Episodes with Sawyer are always a little more lighthearted because of his one-liners, but that does not mean the episode was bad.  We can't have constant drama, drama, drama.  I would take an episode like this over a crying Jack and Kate being all messed up any day!

It was a good episode not great. It was sort of like a breather before they ramp up stuff on us again. Horace was interesting as he was the guy Locke dreams  about to get the map to Jacob's House so interested in how that comes about.

I wonder now if Dharma babies could be born on the island but after the purge and possibly before, no Others could have children, so maybe Sun could have  had the baby on the island. Juliette was only working on Others

The quadruple love thing between Juliet, Jack Kate and Sawyer detracts from main Lost mythology. Kate should go with Sawyer. Juliette with Jack.. Seeing the statue fully intact was cool. The cross for the symbol of reincarnation on the girls dead husband that Richard wanted the body of was interesting.
But how come Miles could not hear tthe voices of the dead others? His ability to hear dead people seems to get weaker and weaker each episode.

I still think Hurley not Locke is going to be the key to the mystery of the island.

It gets an 8 from me.  Usually I rank episodes with Sawyer in them higher, but as everyone says this felt like a good bit of filler, unfortunately.  It was good, but not great.

I loved all of Sawyer's little nicknames and one-liners, naturally.  We've missed those lately.

I loved loved loved that we got to see the four-toed statue (even though it was only a short tantalizing glimpse) and it was interesting to see the focus on the Ankh necklace and the eyeliner mention and thus to get the Egyptian connection strengthened even more.   Interesting little tidbit from Richard about walking through the fence and it protecting them from (I assume) Smokey.

I'm not quite sure what I think of Sawyer and Juliet together yet, but I like that it gives me a lot to ponder.  It was nice seeing Sawyer's personal growth -- sort of domesticated and in a responsible leadership position; and it was nice seeing Juliet finally succeed at a delivery.  It was nice that Jack never opened his mouth once, even though we did have to see him.   Cheesy

Lots of thought-provoking questions raised about babies -- why could they once be delivered on-island, and why can't they now, and who is Amy and Horace's baby, and what is up with little Charlotte?

I guess that's mostly how I felt about this episode -- lots of interesting things, and lots of thought-provoking things, but not really any OMG! moments or danger/action sequences.  (Come on, we knew those two Others were toast when Sawyer and Juliet had the drop on them, so there was no edge-of-your-seat excitement stuff there...  Wink  right?)   A good solid 8 for thought-provoking-ness.

i'm going to try this again.

i give it a 5.

i agree with a lot of the thoughts on here.

it seemed like filler.  no real aha moment.  interesting, but not captivating.

i liked seeing dharma in the 70's but i hate that our losties are now stuck in the 70's.  i just don't like it at all.
i didn't like the flipping back and forth between '3 years ago' & '3 years later.'  it's like tptb wanted us to get nosebleeds or something.  or maybe they just wanted to confuse us on time, but then decided we better give them directions.  didn't like it at all.

sawyer/juliet seems odd and forced.  not natural.

where is olivia?  horace & amy?

i liked the 4 toe statue, but i wish we could have seen more of it.

all in all a very meh episode.  i'm hoping for better next week.

hopefully i can post this.

i liked this episode. sawyer episodes are so much better than jack or kate's. i know that it was a "filler" episode, but if felt like it really set up the next few episodes very nicely.

Wow, I guess I must've watched something else last night, because I really liked this episode!  I'm with Bambi - I thought seeing Sawyer's growth was awesome.  I feel like he is the only character who has really grown and matured since the O6 left the Island.  He's a true leader now - he took control of the situation when they realized they were stuck, and then 3 years later he's actually head of security for Dharma.  He's in a serious relationship.  He actually told a woman he loved her and meant it!

I loved the scene between Sawyer and Richard.

This was definitely not an earth-shattering episode, but does every episode have to be?  This was a fun episode and a breath of fresh air after the uber-drama of the last 2.  I'm not thrilled with the time-travel either, but I'm going to roll with it and I'm along for the ride.  At least they aren't skipping around anymore.  It gets a solid 8 from me.  I enjoyed it.

I really liked this episode a lot.  Enjoyed Saywer's maturity, as several have expressed here.  Seeing the DI in it's heyday was fun, and I'm happy about the Sawyer-Juliet relationship mainly because I don't want Kate with him.

I thought the '3 years earlier' '3 years later' thing was the writers way of letting us have a piece of Lost by having us sort of go through time travel ourselves.  They first did it with the 'flash-back' 'flash-forward' format, which gave us all headaches - just like the Losties.  No nosebleeds, though and I thank them for that!

Sawyer's 'eyeliner' comment was a shout out to the fans - they know we're here, and commenting like crazy.

I gave it the only '10' apparently, maybe cause I missed Sawyer so much, and got a lot of him in this episode!
