I don't trust widmore because of how well he treated Locke. I know that seems to make no sense, but I think they had him "fly in the specialist" to take care of Locke, provide him with a driver, money, legal papers, and all the info on the O6 to get him on Locke's good side. Something about the line he said about how he can be trusted because he didn't try to kill Locke is a big red flag to me. I know plenty of people who haven't tried to kill me, but I still don't trust them. Not committing murder is a really flimsy trust meter.

I think this episode was just to tilt the manipulation scale in Widmore's favor so we think oh, he must not be that bad of a guy until next episode when we see young Widmore eating people on the island and having sex with polar bears.

I'm not so sure about the beastiality, but I just get an "uh-oh" feeling with Widmore. When we met him as a young man and he acted so nastily it just confirmed it for me.

Widmore's the older, British version of Ben.

Young Widmore having sex with anything would be a great episode!

ROFL! Except, it's not with anything, it's you, and it's not an episode, it's your life, right?  Roll Eyes Yeah that would be pretty great.

LOL! Sorry, sometimes there's no filter between what I think and what I type. And I'm not usually clever, so, I had to take a chance. Sorry dude!

OK then...so, Widmore seemed so convincing. I found myself thinking, "Wow, Widmore's the good guy...he seems so sincere." Then my intuition screamed..."No, Locke, don't believe him!"

If I had to choose, I'd side with Widmore. At least right now, we don't have any reason to believe Widmore will kill people. Ben has done plenty of killing. The only killing caused by Widmore (that I can remember) wasn't actually cause of Widmore, it was cause of Keamy and his men getting a bit out of hand in their mission to capture Ben.

Widmore did snap that one guy's neck during one of the time-skipping flashbacks, though. To me, the young Widmore seemed like exactly the type of person and personality you'd WANT to banish from the island lol. Even Richard was getting ticked off at him.

By the way, wasn't Michael unable to kill himself because "The island isn't through with you yet"? (or something along those lines). Apparently the island needed Michael to blow up Widmore's freighter. It would seem the island is working against Widmore, which would seem to point to Widmore being bad for the island.

If I trust any character on Lost, I trust the island lol.

Good point.  And when Michael was about to die on the freighter, Christian showed up and said something like "You can go now Michael".  So the destruction of the freighter ended what the Island had for him to do.

I do not trust Widmore.  I trustm him more than Ben, though.  I don't think it is an accident that Ben has the same name as a rat!

Widmore seemd rather trigger-happy as a young man, and mean to his daughter.
