I like it Hoth. I really do.

I'll let someone else display their geekiness and explain Hoth to those who aren't informed! Wink

Anywho, discuss!

Geekiness?

Well ya see, the LOST producers and writers are big Star Wars fans (no, really!), and Hoth is this ice planet from The Empire Strikes Back. It's where Luke cuts the arm off a Wampa, encounters the probe droid, and the Empire attacks with Imperial Walkers.

It's also the name of a Jedi General (of the Army of Light) who fought the Sith Lord Kaan (leader of the Brotherhood of Darkness) on Ruusan. He was killed when the Sith set off a 'thought bomb' which destroyed the Jedi and most of the Sith.

Hoth is also the brother of Balder (the Brave) in Norse mythology. It was his missletoe arrow that slayed his brother.

Finally, Hoth was also a German general during World War II. Hermann Hoth was a panzer commander on the Eastern Front and was also involved in the Wermacht's '42 summer offensive.

We can assume then that this has something to do with the arctic station where those 2 Portuguese dudes where hanging out at the end of season 2???

Wow. I saw this thread and thought, Oh, Sledge! What a clever trick! But this is actually the real title of an episode?! That's. Just. Awesome.  Shocked

What an awesome idea. That had not occurred to me, but it totally makes sense!

I agree!  I think the Hoth reference is way more likely to be the Star Wars ice planet rather than the German panzer commander, given that TPTB are such big Star Wars fans.

Could also refer to the FDW room... Ben in his giant coat sort of reminded me of some of those Hoth scenes. But the arctic station would be sweet to revisit.
