Daniel is from Ann Arbour?

I want to know more about Daniel.

Remember the scene where he is watching television footage of the staged wreckage and his caregiver asks him why he is sad, and he responds that he doesn't know? Any thoughts on what that was all about?

no matter where xhwe walked in that scene, they didn't show her face, but they did show her putting her hand on his shoulder and she had a ring on

so it seemed as if they're implying she's his wife but its a secret exactly who she really is

I thought she was a caretaker too. If that's his wife... then shame on him for having feelings for another woman!

Yeah, I guess caregiver could mean anyone. related or unrelated. but from what I remember, (and it's been a while) she didn't talk to him like they were married. more like a hired help. but I'll have to watch it again to be more certain.

but the fact that she calls him "Dan" instead of "Mr. Faraday" made me think they were more familiar than just caregiver and patient
also, she's making him breakfast, so I figured she slept there

Looks to me like after Desmond's visit in 1996, Daniel continues experimenting with timetravel.
He experiments with rats, the man in Oxford told he burned a lot of dead rats.
Than he experiments with Theresa, but he can't get her back to the present. He tries to get
her back, but melts his own brain too. (Desmond asked him how he covered his head against the radiation).
He gets to his mother, who lives in L.A. to look for help.
Theresa's sister told Desmond that Daniel ran away to the states and never came back.
(because he is stuck on the island).

But I think it's not his wife. I think Theresa was his girlfriend
and one of the reasons he is on the island is to help her.

Wait...  How does this relate to using the computers to communicate with the other stations?  Isn't that what the Swan Station Orientation Video stressed so much NOT to do as to avoid another incident?!?  How is the incident related to that?

That is exactly what the video said.

Maybe they somehow comunicate through the computers to coordinate the actions which cause the incident. Doesn't sound that good but I can't think of something better

That's my theory as well. Something having to do with whatever is happening at the Orchid, and what is happening at the Swan.

Chang referred to him as "a scientist from Ann Arbor".  He didn't say "one of our scientists".  Seems to me that he didn't know Daniel from before.

he did say the sub was bringing in a scientist from Ann Arbor, but so far we can't be absolutely positive Daniel was the one he was referring to, the writers could be playing around and leading us down a false path
the scientist from Ann arbor could have been the main passenger on the sub and they just never showed him, while Daniel is a recruit and just happened to hitch a ride on the same sub

we do know Daniel was there in the past, but maybe the cover story he used 3 years ago was "I'm a scientist from Ann Arbor and I'm a member of Le Fluer's expedition", but while "Le Fluer" and Juliette and Miles stayed on he island, Daniel took the sub and went back to Oxford or Ann Arbor

but if that's the case, and his cover is a scientist and that's who they believe he is, then why is he wearing common work clothes and doing construction in the series opener ?

When I watched it, I heard scientists as well, so obviously Dan was who he was referring to.
