I don't know what Odysseus is. There's Ulysses by James Joyce and the Odyssey by Homer. I don't know of any work called Odysseus, just the main character of the Odyssey.

Ulysses was the Roman name for Odysseus. The names of the gods were also changed in the Latin version (I have to teach the Odyssey every year).

I know, I'm just saying it wouldn't make sense for the book to be called "Odysseus." It would either be titled Ulysses by James Joyce or the Odyssey.

Ben killed Eloise Faraday
I still think Ben didn't know she was Daniel's mother until Desmond showed up and said so and that little look that Ben gave last week when Desmond said that ? I don't think it was a look of surprise that Des now knew what Ben knew , I think it was a look of surprise of Ben learning something new
if we believe that she is Widmore's ex-lover and that Widmore still loves her, but she left Widmore then it would make sense for Ben to kill her as part of his revenge

I think he tried to get to Penny but since Widmore knew she was in LA, or at least that Desmond would be, he had her looked after. I almost felt sorry for Ben when I saw him like that...almost.

I thought the loose ends were getting Sayid and Hurley on board (literally). Do the lawyer thing with Hurley. And when he went to Sayid, Sayid beat him to a pulp. Ben could then press charges and Sayid is extradited, and hence on the plane in handcuffs. HOWEVER, why he would be extradited to GUAM is beyond me, so there my theory falls short.

He didn't just say he had loose ends to tie up, he said something like he had made a promise to an old friend. To me, this says he was going to kill Penny, like he had promised Widmore he would do.
I think it's possible Desmond may have been the one who beat Ben up. The question is, does Desmond (and thus Penny) look worse than Ben now?

I was totally going to start this...Glad I'm not the only one It looks to me that Ben is at the spot where Desmond and Penny took their picture? Am I wrong? Penny is on a boat and there are boats around Ben. Of this is true it would also get Desmond back to the island for revenge against Ben. Crazy...I kinda liked Penny. And what about little Charlie?

there is no way that they would kill a major character like that and not show us one way or another.

To me it seems perfectly clear that Ben left the church, followed Desmond back to the marina, and had in mind to kill Penny. The big question is, did he succeed, and who beat him to a pulp. I hadn't thought about Widmore's thugs either, but that sounds like a possibility. But what got me thinking was, when Ben called Jack, he had already had his butt kicked, but he still needed Jack to get get Locke. It was like he had been beaten up, but he still had stuff to do. Any thoughts what he was up to then?

I'm with all y'all...Ben was at the marina, where Des's boat would be, and he had business to settle with Penny (namely, her death). I don't think he succeeded, though, because he was shaken up when he talked to Jack; if things had gone smoothly, he would have taken Locke to the airport himself. But he was still making the call from the marina, so if Des did beat him up, Ben seemed to be out of danger at least.
I think he was reading Ulysses because he wants to figure out what'll happen with Des and Penny....lol.

Yes, fantastic Mrs. Alpert! Maybe that's how Ben manages to know everything... he's got an "in" with the writers, and spends his free time reading all their favorite books so he can predict what everyone's going to do. Now THAT would be a great plot twist for season 7. ;-)

Well, reading all the references on this show hasn't helped me...maybe Ben has more time to do things like that, when he's not out drowning puppies and knocking ice cream cones out of kids' hands.
