I don't know what got Kate to change her mind so suddenly but I have difficulty believing it's because someone is holding Aaron in an effort to force her to return.  What woman in that situation jumps a guy's bones when she's that distressed??  We all know that it doesn't happen unless the woman's in the mood.  A man, sure... no mood is necessary for a man.  But, a woman?

In times of high emotions, especially grief and despair, it's actually quite common for a person to have sex. And yes, even a woman! It can act as a distraction, or as a release of pent up tension or stress. I have anecdotal evidence but it's not something that I want to share on a message board, lol. And for the record, it wasn't me!!

I guess you are a man.  Huh
She did something terrible for "her son", she feels awfull and needs love, comfort, consolation, someone who she can trust,
someone who holds her, and she has nobody, no family, no friends. She goes to Jack, he feels terrible too after everything.

Yes, I'm a man.  What I said was that I can't imagine a woman doing that if someone was holding her child to FORCE her to return to the island.  I'm talking about a kidnapping/holding hostage type of situation.  I'm not talking about handing Aaron off to someone's mom to hold for her.

Yes, but as Cayley said (and I'm sure she knows), women are unpredictable when they are more high-strung than normal (my paraphrase). You never know when a crazy lady is going to jump your bones if you've had sex with her before.

I don't think that's what I said. I said PEOPLE often have sex when upset or highly emotional. And by people, I mean men AND women. The way you say it it sounds like you think all women are high strung in general and being upset just makes them more so. At any rate, I don't think Kate's behavior was unpredictable. She was clearly upset, and that was how she chose to deal with it. That or she did it to shut Jack up.

I agree with everything you've said on this thread, CastawayCayley.

She is exactly right, guys...When someone is upset, scared, or they just don't know what to do---looking for physical comfort is probably one of the most common reactions.  Not to be crude or anything, but can you think any other single act that gives as much comfort, euphoria, and distracts you from everything else like sex does?

Even though I'm not convinced this is why Kate sleeps Jack--as I've said either earlier in this thread or in another.  I think Kate may have just pulled the sex card to distract Jack from any emotions he would feel about never seeing or hearing about Aaron again.

I wish my wife would shut me up that way.  She just says "Shut up."  I think Kate's way would be much more effective.

Has anyone considered that maybe Kate gave Aaron to her mother? Recall the scene of Kate's mom saying she "just wats to see her grandson" and Kate replies with something like "you will never be allowed near him". Maybe she finally decided her mom could do the deed of keeping Aaron safe for now. As much as pains her to give Aaron to her mom, it might just be the best solution.
