Good call about Jack waking up a new man. The way it paralleled the Pilot, it was almost like this is how he was supposed to be the first time he crashed on The Island.

Can't remember, but did Jack open the same eye as he did in the Pilot?

don't know. all i could focus on was the fact that he REALLY needed his eybrows plucked/waxed for that closeup.

I agree. Jack is no longer a man of science, he now is a man of faith!

I was one of the few who didn't love it (I gave it a 6). I thought by showing the end of the episode first, it took all the drama of "will they make it back?" away.
Also I thought that Desmond would have been angrier with Ms. Hawking, but their situation just drifted. And why did Ms. Hawking say "the island is always moving, why do you think you weren't rescued?", but the island didn't move for the last 4 months of 2004, and possibly for a long time before then.

I took a different view of that last part. It seemed to me that yes, the island DID move, but we didn't understand it. That's why the compass screwed up in season one. That's why Richard actually has a compass that points "north" or to the island north. That's why the wreckage that got washed off the beach was found near Fiji. That's why the Black Rock, the Beechcraft, etc were able to crash on the island. That's why the submarine is solely an illusion.
Basically, that one statement simultaneously answered many of the questions of Season One while opening a whole new can of worms. This is one reason that I, along with (probably) many of the people here, thought it was one of the best episodes this season, perhaps ever.

I do not understand the critisim of the Desmond scene. Motorcycle is not the only one to bring this up either. I have read many comments on this topic. Desmond listened to what she had to say for a few minutes, got the understanding of what was going on and then told her off. He let her have it, told her he was done with the island and took off. What else did people want to see, Desmond punching an old lady. I saw a lot of anger in Desmond.

I agree completely with Juggy on this. It was well-written, acted, and directed in my opinion (although a couple other scenes might not have been the best written ever)
