Oh that's absolutely what I think.  I've thought for awhile that Charlotte was Annie's child, now after tonight I'm pretty sure she's Annie and Ben's.  Ben sent them away to keep them safe or whatever.  He shot Charlotte because he "knew" she wouldn't die.  Just like he told Keamy to go ahead and shoot Alex... he "knew" she wouldn't die, either.  Except Widmore did something to break the rules.... so Ben was genuinely shocked that Alex died...  He clearly loved Alex.  Maybe she was his "substitute" for Charlotte whom he lost / gave up?

Exactly..Or Maybe you know Ben didn't know charlotte was his daughteer, but that doesn't make much sense either, because well Ben knows everything..but..um maybe not

Well, that would explain the animosity between Widmore and Ben.  Widmore was stealing Annie behind his back!

Who gets Eloise preggers on the idland? Widmore maybe? Is it possible Daniel and Charlotte are (star wars moment) brother and sister?

How did Ben know that Charlotte would not die when he pulled the trigger on her.  He was fearful of the people from the freighter.

Also he didn't know that Alex would not die when he told Keamy to shoot.  He didn't  know that Widmore changed the rules.  so when he went to see charles he told him he would hunt penny down and kill her in return for alex's death.

charlotte said she was a little girl, so let us say she is in her late 20's as it takes 7 to 9 year to get that degree and if she went entered university at 18 well, my point is I don't buy that Ben is her Dad.

I think that we make an assumption that her hair is the connection.  Also my other thought is that if in fact she were Ben's daughter why would Ben's significant other go to England where Widmore lives.  I think if Widmore knew that was Ben's daughter he would not have sent her there.

If she is Ben's daugher you all have a soda on me!

It's funny how some of you are practically screaming that Ben shot Charlotte and it's a valid point.  I would've been extremely disappointed if she said something about Ben being her dad or her mom being named Annie.  Three huge reasons why Charlotte isn't Ben's daughter.

1) He shot her.
2) He knew everything about her so obviously he'd know if she was his daughter.
3) She didn't recognize him at all.  She remembers the island.  I'm sure she'd remember her dad.

the purge was 1992. I thought her bio according to ben had her at 24 yrs old, but I'm going to go check that. And I feel she would recognize her dad, too, Maxor

Thanks, Cayley!  You're a great researcher!

I guess I had my Purge dates off, then...

yeah, I'm going to go with Hurley Rocks dudes, Lil, Maxtor, and Cayley and say that I don't think Ben is Charlotte's father.  To be honest, if it turned out that way I'd be pretty disappointed.  It would sort of negate the impact and meaning behind Alex's death and purpose on the show.  I also say no way is she Daniel's daughter, nor Daniel's sister (eww!)
