So the light flashes began when Ben turned the wheel and left the island. Since then the island or the losties have been moving through time.  What is this is just a simple case of having Locke go back to the Orchid to "jiggle the handle" to stop the toilet from running, ahem, I mean to stop the time jumps from happening?

This always works in the middle of the night......  seems logical and comical at the same time.  Good theory!

Keep in mind that is Locke's best guess. He doesn't know for sure that will help, he just said that the Orchid is where it all began, so maybe that is where to stop it all.

I think John turns the wheel and gets sent off the island, but the skips continue, which is why we see Faraday in the Orchid during another time instance, where I bet by the end of this season we see Faraday turning the wheel backwards.

I really hope it's not that simple of a fix.

I didn't say it would fix everything, but I feel that will happen

Oh yeah, I totally understand that, but like I said, that would be such a let down if the problem of traveling through time was fixed as easily as turning the wheel backwards.

I can see Faraday trying that then things get worse and he says "um...that wasn't supposed to happen"

That sounds like a funny "fix" but i think he would need to turn the handle back (counter-clockwise).  Ben turned the wheel clockwise and the fix should be to turn it back.

I think the 06 all have to die as they reach the island.

Because john has already died the pretime 06 john on the island has already been approached and had his timeline altered by somebody.

Sorry slightly confusing ---  the earlier island john  encounters say richard who changes his course.

Due to richard being the same when the time shifts occur?

The others have to die so their earlier selves can be changed etc.

By perhaps john whos now aware of what will happen and can try to alter their destinys?

John said he had to go through all the pain to get where he is now.

Perhaps hes the one that has to kill the rest?

Ramblings aside  if the 06 die now or in the past the course has been corrected -think charlie - in reverse.

I think Locke's plan is going to change by the time he gets to the Orchid.  Best intentions.

I believe he'd have to turn the wheel back the same number of "spokes" that Ben turned it forward anyway.

Well, it is a good idea, on Locke's part. That's where the "unlimited energy" is that moved them in the first place. But I don't think he can reverse everything just by moving the donkey wheel. The I6 et al are suffering from the side effects of the turned wheel. What's happening to them is an unfortunate and unpredictable consequence, and while they may relieve some suffering at the Orchid, I don't think they'll reverse it.

yeah, but from what Richard said, I think John knows he can't fix the island on the island. he knows he has to get off the island first , try to get the o6 to come back so that the island problem can be fixed. right?

Yes, you're right of course, his ultimate plan at the Orchid is to get off the island. But if he was going to try to "jiggle the handle," I don't think it will do much for their present situation... plus, the whole frozen-donkey-wheel was such a novelty and great surprise, I think it'd cheapen its meaning if John went back to play with it to see what happens.

I'm assuming you mean that Locke is the one that has to kill them?? Then we're in trouble. If he couldn't bring himself to kill the man who stole his kidney, and then tried to murder him by pushing him out of an 8 story (8 right?? or was it more??) window, then there is no way he will be able to kill 5 other peiople who did him no wrong, including a child (or two if Sun brings Ji Yeon).

I think Locke's plan is going to change by the time he gets to the Orchid.  Best intentions.
I believe he'd have to turn the wheel back the same number of "spokes" that Ben turned it forward anyway.

Once again, another big problem, he has no idea what direction it turned in, or how much it was pushed.
