Ok, so my wife and I constantly go on all night rants and raves about our thoughts and ideas about episodes we watch of LOST. In this new season we are forced to get our ideas involved and out there because we are just too into the story. So these might be a little confusing and random and not in sequence at all and I apologize for that, but I'm just trying to get it all out there:

Season 5 Episode 1 & 2 (I'm going to lump these together because I watched both episodes together and can't really separate anything out at this point)

I think Daniel is a clever LIAR: Daniel tells Sawyer that he can't talk to Desmond it just can't happen if it hasn't happened yet because Desmond doesn't know sawyer yet. YET, in accordance with episode 3, John Locke goes back in time before HE WAS EVEN BORN to meet Richard! Now how could Sawyer not talk to Desmond yet Locke could talk to Richard?

At this point we are not sure as to whether or not the contents of the notebook are changing or not. If the contents are changing, then the future Daniel is going into the past and changing the contents of the notebook. This would explain Daniel not knowing what to do in certain situations without referring to the notebook.
But if the contents are not changing then Daniel doesn't remember everything he has done - hence the notebook. He reads what he is suppose to be remembering. My guess is the first explanation.

Doctor Candle's child - Miles? I know everyone is thinking it. It would tie into a comment he made last season to Charlotte about going back to the place where she was born implying he had some inside knowledge about her past on the island.

Daniel knows about the blast "We must've been in the radius".

This struck me as extremely odd everytime I heard it.
Aaron: "Choo-choo, Tunnel"
Kate: "Ohh, I think Choo-choo knows better than that. If he goes into that tunnel he's never coming back out."

In accordance with knowledge about episode 3, Charles Widmore's nametag reads "Jones". Not his uniform obviously. Another "other" disguising technique?

Name mention: Dan Norton of Agostini & Norton.

Is sun behind the lawyers visit? She's so conveniently in town at the same time Kate is running, in LA - a half hour away.

Richards comment in response to
John: "It was Ethan who shot me"
Richard: "Well, what goes around comes around"

Ben gets some fragile package out of the hotel room air vent.

Jack: "Safe? He's dead isn't he?"

And that's all I think we came up with. I know it's a lot to absorb. And some of it may seem way off. But these are just blind observations. Let us know what you think!

At first I thought maybe the package that Ben gets out of the hotel's air vent contained another copy of Daniel's notebook (one generated and/or left behind on some time-trip).  I thought Ben was getting it out to take to Mrs. Hawking since he went there right after.

But on second viewing, the package looks a lot bigger than Daniel's notebook (that we've seen so far anyway.)  So I'm still not sure what's in that package, but I'm very curious!

I agree that Miles is probably Candle's child.

I think Richard's response to Locke was "What comes around goes around," which struck me as strange because he said it reversed from what people usually say. But it tied into the whole time-jumping thing, because technically Ethan shot Locke first (if Daniel's right that time is a street/string whatever he said).

And I think that whatever's written in Daniel's notebook stays the same. He obviously has memory problems, but at least he took good notes. That's how he knew he could approach Desmond in the hatch. Maybe he has always encountered Desmond at that time, but he had to write it down. Hence, reading the notebook before pounding on The Swan's door? Man, I can't wait for more episodes... we just need more information!
