Not every 108 minutes, Richard had a short time to fix Lokes leg.

Yes there are 2 timelines we are following. The O6's 3 years after frozen wheel turn and the islands 2-3 days after turned wheel. They are just jumping around in time on the island.
So, if, say...Locke and Sawyer had somehow left the island while they were back in 1954 and before the next flash occurred, and they went to Los Angeles, they would arrive in 2008 L.A. and not 1954 L.A., right?

I think they would land in Jan 2005 L.A.

I don't think the whispers are anything to do with the time-skipping.

As always - apologies if this has already been covered.

Do we now think that the voices in smoky are the future/present/past people watching themselves/each other in the future/present/past?

Sorry MangoBingo - I think opposite, I think the voices are linked to the time skipping and they are hearing people who are jumping around in time. I will bow to you if I'm wrong though Smiley

I also think that Kate would have seen Sawyer if he had stepped out of the shadows, Richard and the others could see them and touch them so I don't see why the past Losties wouldn't be able to.

Kidos MandoBingo - I agree with you.

I agree with Wishbone's 2nd point though, which has nothing to do with the first. If Sawyer steps out, Kate would have seen him. I don't think anyone was arguing that point.

maybe the creepy whispering the losties were always hearing in the jungle are the whispers of the time traveling losties. what do you think? The preview has sawyer saying he saw Kate but obviously he wouldn't talk to her, right?  stating hidden from their past selves and people who might wonder what's going on?

Interesting thought. But the whispers only happen when the others are around or when they show up. Why would the time-travelling losties' whispers happen only when the others are nearby? Doesn't seem to fit to me.

I don't understand how this post ended up in the whispers thread?!?  It's clearly labeled "Re: Big Puzzle piece(s) " in the title...

Yes, time travelers...but not necessarily the Losties.

Here are my posts from two years ago on this idea:

My theory is that instead of parallel universes or time travel, the power of the island is that it enables Special people to project thoughts, images, whispers or to watch/listen to themselves or others in the past.

As to why Ben, the alleged "leader", was sent on the mission to the main island, it's fairly simple.  He's not the leader.  He's probably the most skilled agent, most resistive to torture, best able to think on his feet.  He's probably very receptive to the telepathic whispers which help provide guidance with his storytelling.

I think two threads got merged. I'm not sure how that works exactly though. So don't take my word for it.

Has to be a merge somewhere, because I started the Big Puzzle topic.

Actually, I had something else to add to a Smokey discussion -- but I'm not sure if it's considered a spoiler or not.  The actor who plays Jin made a comment today about Smokey.  Would that be considered "spoiler?"

Edit:  OK, now that these threads got merged, my comment totally makes no sense...  Cheesy   (Originally it was in a thread called "Smokey"...
