Richard saying Widmore made this one of the best "answer" epi's thus far....
For that and so much more of the.....should I say enlightenment?....yes Enlightenment that was proffered up for our hungry eyes and minds....
Jughead got a 10 from me.

The only thing I didn't like is that the creators of LOST had to put the flash right in the middle of Richard's talk with Locke. Anyone could have predicted that would have happened. I'm getting tired of them leaving all these cliffhangers everywhere. How about a normal conversation for once...

solid 9 from me. great classic lost episode. i was planning on giving it an 8 until i came on here and found out young ellie is old ms. hawking is daniel's mom. that's a great epiphany and so i'm upping my score one. yay for lost!
+widmore on the island in 1954!! +ellie/ms hawking on the island in 1954 +we now have an H bomb that could be the cause of so many of the unexplained on the island: sickness, healing, fertility problems, magnetism problems etc. +penny and des are living happily ever after (at least for now) +charlotte got another bloody nose. i don't like her. +miles heard dead people again. +sawyer was sarcastic and mean, just like the good ole days. +juliet still has secrets +john was classic locke. loved it. +no crying jack (hey, it is a plus)
hey, that just happend to come out to 9! wow.

I will probably not be very popular, but I just was not impressed with this episode. I am not saying it didn't have it's moments, and I won't repeat them because they are in the replies above. I just thought that it was lacking something. No O6 and did Rose and Bernard just disappear? I gave it the 6. Maybe I will read through the forums and change my mind, but my initial reaction was not good. I do like that Penny and Desmond named their child Charlie!!

10!!!
I'm amazed that it keeps getting better and better. The season opener was awesome! This one will stand out among all episodes from any season as being one of the best. This one was truly for the fans that have been on this ride from the beginning. Imagine a first time or casual viewer seeing this episode. When Locke is "introduced" to Widmore, they would not even think twice about it. While a fan like me screamed WOW!!! So many of our questions answered. So many new ones too, as always. For me, the core stories about the island's mysteries, Locke, Richard, Ben, Others, Dharma, & Jacob have always been my favorites. With a single episode, I am again brought back to the thoughts of why this is the best show on television. Other favorites from this episode would be: - Desmond finally standing up to Widmore, knowing the costs could be high. - Dead army guys. They were probably on the island for nuclear testing, but found out it wasn't their island to play with. - The original Others! Wonder if Charlotte's parents are in that group? - A focused, determined Locke. - Ageless Richard who keeps the knowledge of how to get off the island a tightly guarded secret. - Daniel confessing his love for Charlotte.
I could go on and on, but now I want to go watch it again! A number 10 from me...off scale high!

9/10
Really good, but not quite as riveting as the first two hours. Major plus in not having to deal with the O6.

i don't know about this episode.... it didn't really suprise me that much. i figured that we would see widmore on the island eventually. i gave it an 8 cause it was a good episode, just not one of the best. best part was the one Other running up to richard and telling him about the "sodding old man" who "can't track me" and thinks that "he knows this island better than i do", then we see locke scouting the others camp out. that was hilarious

James, this made me laugh OUT LOUD! This episode was perfection. That bomb was one of the freakiest props on Lost yet! And Jeremy Davies showed so many shades and influences happening for Daniel Faraday. I had no idea he was going to be a new leader in this story. Fabulous. Solid 10. Could I give it a 15?

8 from me. I don't know why, but it just didn't "grab" me like the first episode did. Yes, it was great to find out about young Widmore and young Eloise Hawking, but for some reason I don't like the whole idea of the bomb. It's too... normal? Too real? I guess I was beginning to get used to all the mystical stuff and now they introduce something as... well... prosaic? as a bomb. I'm afraid this is all going to come down to the only reason Widmore wants to get back to the island is that he wants control of the bomb so he can blow something up for power and money and that will be really sad to me...

I'm in the same boat as Bambi, Madam P and HRD. There was something that didn't resonate well with me. I liked the episode, it just wasn't great! I save my tens for mind benders like "The Constant". The bomb really ticked me off and I expected to see Widmore. Ellie is a nice suprise and tie in, and Richard is always fantastic.
