Punish the Deed, Not the Breed

So when Sun arrives to see her father for what seems to be the first time, she ecounters a meeting. Mr. Paik is talking to employees of his company and they mention 5 banks. IMO this is where Ben gets his 3.2 Million to pay Miles with.

Any thoughts on that?

Good job making the connection.  What could Miles do for Ben now though?

I don't agree . . . but it is possible, I guess.  First of all, we don't even know that Ben is going to pay Miles.  We don't even know if Miles will still be alive, but I see your point.  I don't think Ben will be giving up any money to anyone.  And I definitely don't see Sun contributing to Ben's outstanding debt.  I do however, see maybe the other members of the Oceanic 6 contributing to the funds.  That would make more sense.  Money taken from 5 banks - one bank for each: Sun, Hurley, Jack, Sayid, and Kate.  Maybe they all contributed to the purchase of Paik Industries.  And it was 5 banks and not six because they didn't take Aaron's money, however much he would have gotten and obviously can't touch till he is probably of age.  I see that being more realistic.

This is an interesting theory. Perhaps they learn that Paik is somehow involved in the coverup/staged plane, and even before Jack wants to return, and Sun has her baby (Hurley-is anyone else coming? Sun- No. hurley GOOD) ,Hurley goes crazy, Sayid loses Nadia and works for Ben, they all decide it would be a good idea to contribute to buying ownership of Paik Industries and making him pay.  I like this idea....

Good points. I would think that it would take a lot more then 3.2mill to buy a controlling interest in the auto company.......ya...think so?

It seems aful early when Sun buys contoling intrest in her fathers comapny though? If there settlement is from 5 of Paik's banks that would not make sense since Ocianic and Paik Industries I thought were tied together some how. I think Ben steals it from Paik for something, if not Miles.

I think the money used to buy Paik Ind. came from 5 banks...don't remember them saying 3.2 mil (only watched once).

Mr. Paik's comment about business and you wouldn't understand  (or it doesn't involve you) were setting up Sun's reveal of the purchase as he was paniced that his company was getting taken over by an unknown party.  Something that did involve Sun and she understood perfectly.

Perhaps Hurley was involved.. he has a lot of money he wants nothing to do with and seems like the type of guy tht would give you ten or twenty million if you needed it.

I totally agree.

the conversation they were having was related to the takeover,

she probably placed 5 different orders with 5 different investment firms so that they would not think it was one person,

Yup, no connection to Miles or Ben, at least as far as we can tell right now.

Sun wouldn't need the five banks to buy her majority share in her father's company. She said to her father that Ocianic paid out a hefty sum. Enough for her to buy majority intrest in her fathers company. There would be no reason for Sun to go to five banks and get seperate monies from them all to cover up a "hostle" take over. <---- Like that one. The conversation that Mr. Paik is invlved in sounded like he was shocked that 5 banks had something done to them. Not a 5 banks are taking my company over deal. Lets all remember Ben and his secret room and all the "monies" he had.

I also thought that when Ben found his case with the reflecting mirror, crackers, and rope that Ben had found his suitcase for Miles.

I don't know anything about finance...but my first thought was that whoever took over the company used 5 different banks so that they wouldn't see it coming. Then Sun comes in and tells her father it was her...

As therealsawyer said, Sun used 5 banks so it didn't seem like 1 person or company. It is called a hostile take over, companies don't like it to happen so they do not sell too many stocks to a single person.

Ben's not gonna pay Miles a dime. And never planned to. The deal was that Miles would report him dead. But that just means the Island'll be torched and Ben knows it. Plus now everybody knows he's alive anyway....

if the 3.2 plays a role, it could only be a part of the whole. His Co. is worth much more than that.
