It's just the only other explanation I can think of at the moment to explain how he'd track down Locke at birth (since I don't think he's the dad) and sort of guide him towards his destiny.  The same with Abaddon setting Locke on the path that would put him on Flight 815.  The thing that's really bugging me is Richard and Abaddon seem to be on separate sides, but they were both guiding Locke towards his destiny?

funny but when Abbadon said he (john) should go on a walk about, I got the impression that he (abbadon) knew that the plane would crash and John would end up on the island and able to walk. And that is some of the reason that he would want to thank him and owe him one later on.
Sooo, I'm thinking that at first Richard didn't want John because he picked the wrong article during the test and Abbadon did want him. Which leads me to the conclusion that they are on opposite sides....
which we know is Dharma and hostiles.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Richard and Abbadon had something to do with all the 815ers being on the plane... some Richard wanted some abbadon wanted , and that is why Ben or Jacob had a list of names, the list consisted of the people abbadon wanted. Otherwise Johns name would have been on the list if it were people Richard wanted.  example, Richard goes to see the psychic and tells him to convince Clair to fly to Australia ..... so on and so on...

Because Richard is helping Ben and Abaddon sent the freighter team to capture/kill Ben.  We've seen Richard on the island a bunch of times but have never seen Abaddon on the island and according Abaddon's visit with Hurley, he doesn't know how to find it or who is still alive on it.

Jeff Jensen from ew.com had a great theory on this.  I'm paraphrasing, but he basically implied that Widmore and Richard were in cahoots and Locke was the chosen one to lead the Others.  Locke keeps getting recruited to go to the Island, but he doesn't go, so Ben is picked as a Plan B.  But Ben has done things differently and now Widmore's not happy with it.  So Abbadon works for Widmore and has been trying to get Locke to the Island, and now Richard is there and helping to try to overthrow Ben by facilitating Locke's destined rise to power.

OOOw, I like that! That would make sense.

If you mean who was on Jacobs list, it was Sawyer, Kate, Jack, Hurley was just to bring back the message. I don't know if I'm missing anyone. Then you have the people and kids that are with them now.

I think the two sides had their own list with their own agendas but both had Locke but with different agenda's. Maybe, I don't know.

It is so much at odds with Ben's usual take on destiny/fate.  He repeatedly returns to the importance of being special and being chosen, and the connection of that status to one's destiny. 

One can respond to that destiny - fulfill it, fight it, run from it, deny it, etc. - but not change it materially.

The dumb thing about that scene is that the line really is more reflective of Locke's philosophy than Ben's.

Or was he trying to manipulate Locke into fighting his destiny so Ben could possibly keep his power and role as lead protector of the island and its secrets?

Yes, I did read that somewhere here before. There is a big debate about the two Emily's being the same person and Locke and Ben being brothers. It's on that thread. Your English is fine , I just wanted to make sure that was the question you were asking. 

It's like Harry potter and Nevell Longbottom. If you know the story, they both  could have been the chosen one Because of a proficy,they both fit the bill but no one knew which one it would turn out to be!

I love Belgium!!! I've been to Brussels a couple of times and loved it. The food is great; the beer is cheap; it feels safe even walking alone at midnight. It reminded me a lot of Manchester - cosmopolitan yet cosy.
