Interesting thought.. as the island moves, maybe time shifts also.. I was wondering about the payload and the doctor. Can anyone explain why when the doctor was killed, he arrived on the island BEFORE it happened, but when they shoot the payload from the boat to Daniel, it arrives about a half an hour LATE? Is the time shift random, or ever changing, or is my logic messed up?

No - the delay of the beacon and the pre-arrival of the doctor's body - they definitely contradict each other. Which means that the island might not exist in any one particular time or space. How you approach the island dictates where and when you arrive.

Or something like that. :-) I think that's why it's so hard to grasp because it follows no distinct pattern.

Why can dead people exist here? No idea. But if the island can exist in any time or space, then I guess dead people could appear there. But why can't women conceive on the island, and why are men excessively fertile? I stil have absolutely no clue on those.

The island moving reminds me of Narnia.  You can only find it if you are not looking for it.

lmfao @ the idea of locke tying a rope tied to the island around his neck and swimming

nah, giant oars appear on either side - that's why DHARMA had so many "scientists" on the island.....it will be revealed that the Pearl Station is actually a giant drum and the monitors were used to send the sound across the island  Grin

it could be that the island is moved, not physically, but mentally.....people just forget where it was.....it's still there, but your mind just overlooks it....like an image out of the corner of your eye and when you turn to look at it directly, it's not there, if that makes sense....  Undecided

wow!  someone needs to go dust off the old 'island is alcatraz' theories.  was it sweet old lady?  i can't remember.
Yes, it was I.  And I was soundly ridiculed for it in some quarters....

What do we know, I was never a fan of the island moves theories, but I guess I have been proven wrong.

I think the Island can move in space and/or time. This would explain the placement of the Black Rock deep in the Island - the ship didn't somehow blow in there in a big storm, but the Island moved under the boat!

I thought Locke's time loop dream tied into this too - picture Island moves under the Black Rock -> Hanso writes his journal about the Island -> Whitmore buying journal, locating Island -> Locke moving Island (maybe)-> Island moves under the Black Rock

I would rather the space and time movement of the island. If that Island physically moves I will be in shock at the minds that came up with that one. I would rather the thing have a cloaking device!

fits in with my secretly held idea that Alpert et. al., Widdy are of the Original Black Rock crew...ssshhhh don't tell anyone, I've a fragile constitution and do not think I can bear the ridicule well...

This could explain why Widmore is having such a hard time finding the island...because it's never in the same place?!

You know, from the first time I saw the EP where the drug plain crashes on the island, I wondered, how could a plain with a limited range fly from Nigeria to the south pacific? Well one of the things I thought of was may be the island moves! That would explain the drug plain, the Black Rock, maybe the big Smiley balloon and the line Sayid said to Jack in season 1, Sayid said that it was very unusual that the tides would change so suddenly, all the wreckage will be under water before we know it. Maybe the tides changed because the island was moving and was actually PLOWING through the water. Maybe Rousseau's ship didn't run aground on the island but rather it collided with the island because it was moving. Then there is Desmond's boat. The island could have moved to intercept Des on his race around the world! The island has tremendous magnetic power. The power could be used the levitate the island by reversing the polarity. This would allow it to move. I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps "move the island" really only mean the coordinate that allows people to enter and leave it.

Currently the have to travel to the island at 305 degrees. Changing the positioning of the electromagnetic force on the island may change this entry point?
