There is most likely some other source of magnetism on the island other than the SWAN.  This will help move the island.

I think that when Michael and Walt left that the island was in a different place then it is now.   My reasoning.  michael followed bearing 325,   The freighter people are following 305

Take a closer look at the comicbook cover presented to young locke.

The caption reads "What was the secret of the mysterious 'Hidden Land'" and the cover art shows a city floating on a cloud directly above another.

i guess thats how you move an island.
