Who is the shooter?

My bet is the Others.....it was a Setup by Ben. Who else knew where & when Alex, Carl, and Danielle would be. The map shows only one direct route to the temple. I believe it was Ben that was urging them....if you leave now you can get there by sunrise? I think he said. And then it's just like Ben to say something like "Your Mother can Protect you!" while he really knows she can't, and is laughing to himself inside.

thing is, i think this is what he was trying to tell her when they stoped at the stream in "confirmed dead", so they wouldnt know exactly if and when they were comming

the only thing i see is in the last second before she stands up you see a gun move on the left side of the screen

I noticed that Ben sent them to the temple after he saw Karl with his hands on Alex's back and that pissed him off. So he has him killed and his daughter is protected by the others. He killed two birds with one stone..oooooooowww   ooooh pun intended! (sorry, I couldn't resist) I really liked Danielle...

Don't think they'll kill Rousseau, at least I really hope she lives.
-Ben said it would take them a day and a half to get to the temple. I don't think that they were that close. (Why does almost everywhere on the Island take a day and a half to get to?)
-The others don't normally go around shooting people unless provoked. They use darts and rocks and stuff.
-I can see Ben getting rid of Carl & Danielle but I don't think they were close to the temple.
-Could be Keamy and Lapidus who came back to the Island to find Ben...

I hope Rousseau is still alive too... I was really hoping to see her flashback at some point.

My vote for the shooter is Ben himself.  He gave them the map knowing a shortcut probably didn't lead to anywhere near the temple.  He takes out Karl, and gets Danielle out of his hair and tests his daughters true loyalties.  Which BTW, she failed miserably.

 ha ha, It's like Manhattan! it takes 45 min from were ever you are in the tri state area to get there (with out traffic that is)

Well, it's hard to figure how long they were walking, but I guess they weren't walking for a day and a half. Even if it wasn't the others, then Ben knew that Danielle and Karl would be killed just like he knew Goodwin was going to get it. (my guess)

......or what jombtron said while i was posting ... but I don't think Locke would let Ben out of his site just yet.

see the point of the automatic weapon was just to shoot until you hit.  I think if someone had one shot they would aim better. But he was like hey we got plenty of amo why dont we just shoot the hell out of the air and if i hit it, then i hit it.

so, was he the shooter on the island? seems a lot of bullets flew, but only two hit.


Shooting skeet it pretty easy. 20 gauge, not automatics.

i count three before Karl is hit, Ten before Danielle.

For me makes more sense that it's an other. Ben knew the route they were taking. Keany didn't. Besides Ben is sending Karl and Danielle to safety? Come on. Karl is the guy who can kill Alex if she gets pregnant and Danielle is the unwanted biological mother of his adoptive daughter.
Besides the shooter killed Karl and hit Danielle, leaving Alex alive. It's so Ben's plan to me...

Despite everything that has happened, Ben would still see Carl as a threat to Alex, if he got her pregnant.  And Danielle surely didn't endear herself to Ben recently.  Given that Ben is now loose, surely he has accessed a means to get a message off to those in the Temple: kill Carl & Danielle, bring in Alex.

This sounds most likely what happened.  Could it be Patchy?  He sure has a knack of surviving!
