Gar is right, though. The doctor walked in in the middle of this conversation, so Sayid was maybe about to speak up.
True...

I couldn't make anything out of it. Not enough there and they're talking over what little there is. Maybe someone else'll have better luck.

I don't know whether or not Morse is a standard part of basic training any more, so I'm less sure about Des. But Sayid was a Comm officer and so should know.

from a layman's point of view, completely off topic, that is pretty pathetic that it is not taught... Know some grade schoolers whom know it.

Following Staggerlee down his rabbit trail... I agree. Once again. For the record...I don't think anyone was communicating anything other than "cabin fever." Although the Dr. walked in on that scene, Des implied that it had been going on for some time. Sayid would have said something by then if it were Morse code.

If it's needed for someone's job, it would be taught after Basic at tech schools. I never learned how to service lox on an F-15 at basic, but I needed to know it. </off-topic>

A careful listen lets you know its NOT morse code. Its a ryhthmic 2 beats, space, then beat. repeated.
Desmond says its been going on for quite sometime.
Sayid has the look of "listening" as Des talks about it and says its not mechanical.
The Doc walks in.
Now then, elsewhere morse code from "The Other Woman" has been discovered...the flashing lights in the Tempest. Morse code crackers have claimed such flashing spells out S-I-N.
Dat's all I know about dat.
