Based on the show there's no reason to think that Mikey travels to New York between leaving the Island and arriving on the freighter. Even if you've seen a spoiler that puts him in the Apple it could be either a flash back to an earlier time or a flash forward.
On the other issue, it's very unlikely there's time travel involved in going to or from the Island. Many people have traveled to and fro and there's been no hint of this. The one time that we actually traveled with them and could measure time on both sides, there was no time travel.

U know that time on the island and off is the same. this was proven win penny answered the phone on christmas eve and the calender on the boat. just time in the worm hole it takes to get there is different.

So, I'm just going to lay this out because the numbers need to be seen for me...
The day the freighters arrive is day 100 (give or take) on the island...
The day Michael Leaves was roughly 60 (give or take) days on the island...
That leaves 40 (give or take) days to play around with. This is where it gets kind of vague...
Now, when we see Michael off the island in Manhatten (manhattan?? Not sure how to spell that), we can deduce that it is nearly christmas. Now taking into account that alot of people put up christmas decorations at the beginning of December, let's say that Michael's flashback takes place within the first week of December. So, at the very most, there are 25 days between Michael driving into the shipping container on the dock, and when the freighters arrive at the island. Sooooooo...
40 days (michael leaves the island, then returns on the freighter) minus 25 days (between michael's accident and Desmond's phone call christmas eve) equals 15 days.
So the way this looks (to me anyway) is that Michael was off the island a total of about 2 and a half weeks before he headed back, and this includes the amount of travel time it takes to get from the island to New York, and back again, now I'm no travel expert, but wouldn't that take a few days, the better part of a week to do that?? So how the hell did he and WAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLT have such huge life changes in less than two weeks??

Hey Bob, just thought I'd link you to this in case you hadn't seen it. I put together some numbers this morning based on the updated timeline Sledge and I have been working on. Here it is: Michael Flashback TimelineAnd just to be clear, this is using our timeline on SWLS, not the one from Lostpedia. Their timeline shows a difference of 2 days between the "island" time and the "boat" time. We, however, agree with what fieldy32 said early. Time on and off the island is the same, its only the "bubble" that causes people traveling through it to experience a time difference. |

Do you mean - what happened that Walt isn't talking to Michael - in those two weeks ? If so , it is because Michael told Walt about Anna and Libby and that he killed them. or did you mean something else? |

oh yeah, i was wondering that too until Mr friendly cleared that up. I thought Walt was going to be a much bigger story. I don't understand why Michael is even important in all this any longer. Ben could have used someone else. it isn't like if Michael doesn't do this it would have changed the story much. I'm disappointed with the whole Michael Walt angle.

BUT we know that the boat is in the ocean while Ben is recovering in his home. So Mike is in his way while Jack is captive at the barracks.
