Has anyone ever given any more thought to how Ben woke up during surgery?

When Jack was operating on his tumour he miraculously woke up and started talking,

I wonder how/if that will ever play in future episodes?
Jack was waiting around for Sawyer/Kate to get away. He had the anesthesiologist get away from him. He just woke up because he was out of medicine.

I believe that ben would kill julliet if he had to, and wouldnt think twice... Obviously he is obsessed with her because she resembles his dead *Edit-->mother?*... at least thats what im getting from that episode... I

Time issues? Perhaps the anesthesia wore off because it was for meant for real time not island time
