I beleive it said, " I'm FN Ben Aflack."

I believe Lost-N-Detroit is correct.  I re-watched the part with the whispers and they do indeed say "I'm FN Ben Affleck." There might be something about "This is not a man crush" too but it's really faded.

I totally agree with you on that.Maybe they are linked to the Temple?

what if they are somehow related to "the Box" if it can make anything appear, could be possible it can move things or people around the Island. Maybe "the box" is at the temple.

I don't think time travel occurs physically on LOST island but mentally. What makes time travel different from vividly remembering the past or imagining the future?   I think the whispers are information from another time.

Well, what makes it different is that you can at least briefly change the past and it can kill you....

As for the Whispers, heck, this is as good a guess as any. We just don't know.

I think the whispers are connected to Jacob (see my other post  http://lost.cubit.net/forum/index.php?topic=7441.msg363423#msg363423 )

My theory is that Jacob is tied to that cabin of his and cannot move (maybe he is imprisoned - hence the "Help Me"), but he sends others to do his chores (The Others kidnapping the kids and so on) with his, shall we say, blessings (the whispers). He can also manipulate energy in order to appear as people (as I think he did with Harper) - whispers again. I know it's vague, but it's all I can think of right now.
