Daniel Faraday talks about the side effects that some people experience either coming to or leaving the island.

Could this be the sickness that Danielle Rouseau's crew experienced?  Is that why she shot Alex's father?  And did Ben take Alex because Rousseau was going through it too until Alex was born and became her constant??

And is the medication that Ray is giving George Minkowski THE vaccine??

Alex couldn't be her "constant" in this case, because that would entail that Alex was around in Rousseau's past... which obviously can't be true if she was just born.  Also, about the sickness, wouldn't Rousseau's crew have to attempt to leave the island first and hit the "time bubble" before experiencing any of the side effects?  At least that's what I gathered from this episode.

I guess they could have hit the "bubble" on the way into the island... but they still would have had to been subjected to heavy doses of electromagnetism before going there.

Hey ND, how ya been?

Someone else posted this idea yesterday. It's an interesting one.

I don't really think Danielle is time traveling. If she is there'd be a very tiny window in which Alex could be her constant. She only had Alex a few days, I think?

If that's the vaccine, well,it's not very effective, is it? I rather suspect it was just a tranquilizer. Keep the crazy guy quiet.

I got the initial impression that Minkowski was getting a tranquilizer, but it could very well be "the vaccine."

Who else has gotten a "vaccine"?

Desmond gave himself shots (on a regular basis).  (Thanks BRB...)

Claire got shots.  Did Aaron?

Minkowski.

I forget, did Kelvin get the shots?

We don't know if Kelvin gave himself the shots, but he told Des to.
If I was Des and I am giving myself a shot every 9 days for 3 years and I don't see Kelvin doing it at least a few times, I'd have stopped doing it.

If Danielle was pregnant with Alex before she hit the bubble, Alex would still count as her constant in my book.  Moms?

That's a pretty big mystery they've never touched.  Why did Ben take Alex?  I can't even formulate a theory.

I thought the same about the doc's syringe just because it was the same color fluid.  The way it zonked out Minkowski though I figured it to be a tranq.

Ben wants kids so there'll be future Others, don't you think?

Alex could very well be her constant. Daniel cares most of for her baby. Time jumps can be from a few hours to years. When in past she looks down and sees big belly, comes back and has a newborn. Do we know how old Alex was when taken?

The jumps don't always have to be forward, Dan's mouse jumped forward an hour to learn the maze.

I was about to post this. Anyone who comes to the Island can possible experience the "Side-effects" right? The Black Rock?

I'm actually certain that this theory is correct!

Welcome, Buddhism!

Sorry, what's your theory? That the people on the Black Rock had side effects?  Huh

Ok, I agree that Danielle can't use Alex as a constant...  and that she isn't the one "leaping"

But I still think it totally fits with her crew.  The would have gotten it from coming into the island.

(And a BIG HELLO to LostandSeek!!  I've been good and busy all at the same time, LOL!  How are you?)

Vaccine vs. tranquilizer

Desmond has not taken that vaccine for quite some time now and I don't believe that is what the doc was giving Mankowski (sp).

Daniele, referred to the sickness near the Black Rock (the shipwreck).  But eventually, correct me if I am wrong, she goes to the Black Rock, isn't that where she got the explosives to attack the others on the beach.

I think the vaccine is part of the Dharma "programming/conditioning" to make the people in these stations think that there is something out there that can harm them. Again keeping them where they need to be and also if we recall Kelvin leaves Desmond daily wearing a white plastic hazmat like suit with head gear.  But after he is gone he takes it off.  So there is nothing out there to harm them.

Obviously the docs on the freighter are aware there is a side effect from the island.  Because Faraday knows about it and they don't want the conversation happening between Des and Faraday.

No illness just mind control games!!!!!!!!!!
