Me too. Minowski and Brandon apparently got messed up simply by sailing into the anomaly. That's probably what happened to Danielle's crew, and she mistook their time shifts for insanity.
I also like the part about having the problem being triggered only if you come to or leave the Island, and that you can be irradiated off the Island and never feel the effects unless you travel to the Island and vice versa. I think that's what Minowski was alluding to when he said the same thing was going to happen to the doctor and to everyone once they started travelling back and forth to the Island.
Nice catch.

Could Danielle have avoided the radiation? I'm not sure that Danielle could have purposefully avoided it. Minkowski didn't know what was going to happen to him and he seemed surprised when he realized that Desmond was experiencing it too.
Another thought is that Danielle's team were scientists. Perhaps they were also studying time travel. Danielle was pregnant and the baby was her Constant.

Exactly what I was thinking Roger. They weren't sick, they were "unstuck".
Good catch.
I think you may also be onto something Forever.

Hi, I've lurked for a couple years, but finally think I have something to share...
I think it might be possible that Minkowski's death, or at least how he died due to the brain aneurysm/collapse, may have been the exact ailment that Rousseau refers to as "the sickness". I remember on an old podcast it was said that the sickness makes people "go crazy". Perhaps Rousseau's crew, a science expedition, was subjected to radiation in some form or another on their voyage, then received the affects of the sickness once they crashed. Rousseau would have been extra careful not to receive large amounts of radiation because she was seven months pregnant at the time.
So if this theory is correct it explains why no other survivors have contracted the sickness (I guess they were all radiation free). Also, it shows that these brain anomalies can happen both ways. If you're irradiated and go to the island you will receive the affects on the island, and if you get irradiated on the island (like Desmond), and leave you will get the affects.
this is absolutely awesome! way to go Roger!!
So, basically as long as our losties stay on the island they will be okay, but when/if they get off the island there could be major problems for them. who could qulify that we know of for excessive radiation/em?
Rose~ if she had any form of radiation therapy for her cancer Bernard~ as a dentist he was around x-ray machines all day Jack~ at the hospitial daily, he would have been exposed. Juliet~ how much has she been exposed as a fertility doctor? anyone else??

Are the voices or whispers that have been heard on the island voices from other places in time? Hmmm....

I like this theory. Could that be the reason for why they say 8 survived but then two die? Maybe two people experience these flashes but have no constant and die like Minkowski on the way home.

I like the Roger theory too. Welcome Roger!
But I think Forever has a very good point. What radiation would Danielle's crew have been exposed to that she was not....?

Good call Roger. What took you so long?
I think they had him strapped down because he tore up the radio room and had become a possible danger.
