Is the Purple Light Significant?
« on: February 29, 2008, 11:22:57 AM »
When Faraday sent Eloise into the future, did anyone notice that the light he trained on her seemed to be the same color as the sky turned when Desmond turned the failsafe key?

I can't believe you noticed that! Good catch!

Ah, it was nothing. It's just a theory anyway.  So, how bored are you to be replying to your own thread?

Pretty bored, actually.  It's been a long week and if I move one more number around on a spreadsheet I might start bleeding through the nose like Desmond and Minowski.

hahah. really good catch though. are we to assume that the entire island population underwent a slight push in time then?

That's a good question as well.  It doesn't seem so from what we have seen so far.  Maybe Desmond caught it full force because of where he was at the time, but it radiated outward instead of back towards the Losties and the Others, so they weren't affected.

I asked this in another thread!  Creflo pointed out that Charlie, Eko and Locke were close but everyone on the island was exposed to the same purple light that the rat was exposed to.  Will others suffer the side effects when they leave the island?

Maybe Locke because he was in the hatch. Not eveyone is affected, Sayid was not nor was the pilot.

Yeah, I guess my line of thinking was the radiation/purple light was shining on the rat and the purple light was shining on the island.  Obviously, Des and Locke took a greater dose.

I agree this is not an accident, and really good catch, Casino! Faraday has reproduced in the lab what we saw happen to Des on the island. Des's seemed to wear off after a while though and, as people noted, he was the one right at ground zero. Plus we know only some people are susceptible. So I'm guessing we won't see any more time travelers floating around based on the implosion event.

Might see them for other reasons....

Didn't look purple to me in high def/61 inches.
White with a tad of pink from the (lamp)shade around the bulb.
