Connections & Constants
« on: February 28, 2008, 11:20:56 PM »
I find myself watching for familiar faces in the flashbacks - will Locke roll by -

What if the connections that all of these people have - tenuous as they may have been - turn out to be some sort of mutual constant?

Wouldn't that be cool!!

Oh - and it might connect to the reason that pregnancies don't succeed - the new life has no 'anchor'.

I wonder at what point in the pregnancy the babies are lost?

We should keep in mind that what happens to Des hasn't happened to ANY of the Losties (that we know of). No one has needed a constant, and the babies (and mothers thereof) die BEFORE the baby is born.

I wonder if Aaron had an anchor in Christian's ghost? Now that would be crazy.

But we don't know for sure yet if Aaron is AARON.

Yes, we do.  They wouldn't pull a stupid stunt.  We've seen time and again that the connections make sense & names have meaning.

Let's assume Ben is time traveling and that is why he is always sure of himself and correct. Who is his constant? Richard? Danielle?

OH MY GOSH..... Such a good point. A baby born on that island would not have any connection to the world outside of the island, and therefore would never be able to leave, but why would it not be allowed to simply be born and grow up on the island (living as long as he/she did not leave).... Wow, so much to think about.

Wow, I love the idea. I'm not sure it's what's going on, but I love the idea, and the added point about the pregnancies.

But, at the same time:

If the losties are supposed to be each other's anchor, how would they be able to contact each other since they just had very distant connections?
About the babies, I think the whole island time vs rest of the world time explains it. the losties' bodies are used to world time, so on the island, the pregnancy and childbirth procedures cannot work correctly. hmmm...

Listen to JQ, formerly known as JB. There's no reason at this point to think any of the islanders are time traveling, let alone that it somehow causes deaths of both moms and unborns.
