We knew that. There's a really good explanation of what an egg-town is on lostpedia. Simple answer is that an egg-town is a term used by traveling salesmen who used a bartering system back in the day, they referred to towns with bad bartering deals as egg-towns. This episode had several bad deals... my personal favourite was Miles' deal with Kate that ended with a grenade in his mouth. http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Eggtown sorry, i didn't read the whole thread, i just saw the last pages and ppl were still wondering the meaning of it, tat why i coped the post
i think it's quite on the spot and explaines the meaning of the episodes name quite well....
I just had to give you a hard time, because you're never here anymore! We miss you!

Eggtown = bartering salesmen would fit onaccounta Sayid bartering with Locke to exchange Miles for Charlotte.
There's also the whole deal with the book V A L I S and its meaning (whatever that is) and its author.

The only reason this was called Eggtown is because John was cooking Ben eggs in the beginning of the episode. This is new to us considering eggs aren't exactly easy to come by on the island with no refrigerators. You're making the pregnancy thing up because sh's not even preggers at all, lolz.

Right. I like the bartering explanation. Lots of deals in this episode.

plenty of refridgerators at the barracks, i think there was one in the swan, and in the flame (despite them being blown to bits) not only that but locke just killed a chicken, fresh eggs can be eaten same day, no fridge needed

Yeah, eggs can keep a remarkably long time. And also, time being what it is on this island, who knows... those could be dinosaur eggs that Locke cooked. i thought this was very enlightening
... The term "egg-town" represents a deal with undesirable outcomes in either case.Source: Lostaholics.com That term really does work on multiple levels. One level could be as another word for "Lockeville," and we know from the flash-forward that Hurley tells Jack that he regrets going with Locke instead of Jack. In other words, Hurley's "deal" to go with Locke to Eggtown had "an undesirable outcome." For what it's worth, I'm not totally convinced Kate was being honest by leading Sawyer to believe she wasn't pregnant. (I'm not saying I don't believe Aaron is Claire's Aaron, just wondering if Kate was totally honest there... lots could happen between now and The Great Escape.) Anyway, that could still be another level of the meaning of "Eggtown," in my opinion.

Maybe it refers to the fact that Locke is now in charge of Othersville, and pays homage to his bald head! Ooooh, that was a bad one, sorry folks!

The thread is dead! The funny thing is I have started other threads that I hoped for great conversation and dialogue about and have gotten less than 25 hits. This one I threw up in a millisecond with hope for only one or two replies and it's gone on for 9 pages. The irony...
