Miles phone call back to the boat
« on: February 08, 2008, 09:27:53 AM »
Anyone else find this odd?

Miles calls back to the boat and wants to speak to someone, and the female voice says he is unavailable, twice.  From Miles tone on the phone she should be able to infer that it is important.  Combine this with the fact that they know they are on a dangerous mission (flashback with Naomi), they know Naomi is dead (or in danger), and they most likely know the helicopter went down.  And all Miles gets is a "he is unavailable".

What does this tell us?  What could you be doing on a boat that would make you unavailable under the above listed circumstances.

Just a thought, but could the female voice be Ben's contact and the man Miles wanted is unavailable because she disposed of him once everyone else left the ship?

I thought this sounded odd also. I couldn't understand why he wasn't abailable for such an important call.

I bet your theory is correct. The lady that received the call was Ben's plant on the ship.

Or, the spy has a gun drawn on all of them.......I thought the woman's voice sounded slightly stressed.

He wanted to talk to Fisher Stevens who is clearly chief cook and bottle washer here.

The "receptionist" would've told him something about her sister is she meant to infer some kind of trouble on their end.  I like the idea that she may be the plant.

Wow - another good observation. So why did Miles seem so non-chlant about it?

He asked for Minkowski, the guy that Jack had talked to earlier.

Surely Ben has the situation under complete control.  Locke & Sawyer sussed it out with their little melodramas.  The sudden 'unavailability' of Minkowski on the ship suggests Ben's person/persons on the boat are in control there, too.  Tho Locke's surviving the shooting and Hurley seeing the cabin are monkey wrenches to be sure, Ben's got more cards left to play still.  And don't forget the Others are still out there, positioned to make their move in this chess game.

I agree, this has Ben's stink all over it.
Don't ever count Mr. Linus out.

That call had to be important. It also was kind of funny, because they had asked for Naomi and she wasn't around...
She was dying.

Yes, I bet in another epi or two we'll see the other side of this conversation.

And I do like the idea that it's Ben's man on the boat that's stirring up some kind of ruckus.

I have no evidence for this, but the name that popped into my head for the likely stirrer was ... Michael.
