Okay heres my thought on this subject.
Remember when they had to treck through the jungle because Desmond had the visions of Naomi landing there. He told Hurley and others that he sees visions but its more like puzzle pieces that he doesnt know where they go yet.
So his vision was Charlie pushing a button then he sees Claire and Aaron, then he sees A helicopter. This doesnt mean that Claire and Aaron are getting on the copter.
Sequence in this episode. Was Charlie pushed the button, Claire cried. Helicopter came. So maybe that is as far as it goes.

What about Jin and Sun? I can't remember if they went with Locke or Jack... but you have to figure they must leave since if Sun stays on the Island she'll die. So that would leave us with one spot left, and not enough room for Claire and Aaron. We should start a "who are the Oceanic 6" pool. Or, an "Oceanic 3" since we know the other 3 already.

Desmond was clear that Claire and Aaron got on the helicopter. I was surprised to see them separate Claire Aaron and des. Thought they had a connection. Hope Charlie's poignant death wasn't for nothing.

I posted this quote from Desmond in the Oceanic 6 thread before i saw this thread anyway they were showing Greatest Hits in the UK yeaterday and Desmond said to Charlie regarding his flash that: What I saw Charlie was, Claire and her baby get into a helicopter, a helicopter that lifts off and leaves this island |

I agree. Do we want to see Sun and her baby die? Maybe there is a way that Sun and Jin's baby will live, thanks to Jacob or there are more than 6 that make it back or.... Sun and Jin make it back as part of the 6. I am sure that Jack and Hurley couldn't keep the fate of Sun from her father. He is a powerful man, and would kill Jack and Hurley if they didn't tell him where his daughter is. I'm sure he knew Jin wouldn't betray him after the warning. |

I think Kate is probably one of the six, but we don't know that for sure. We just know she's off the island sometime in the future.
I think we can expect Claire and Aaron to get on a chopper 'cause of Des's visions, but we don't know where that chopper will take them. "Leaves the island" is too ambiguous for me to conclude real rescue.
Do we know which team Des chose? On one hand he'd want to go with Claire to help comfort her, but he so desperately wants to get back to Penny that I think he'd opt for Jack.
If the Losties have any choice in who gets off, I agree everyone will want Sun to leave since she's pretty much dead if she stays. It doesn't follow that Jin will get to go too....

About the helicopters. Both the one that Naomi came to the island on and the one the guy at the end of this episode came to the island on crashed. Was this because they had already parachuted off the helicopter onto the island or is it because they had to parachute because the helicopter was going to crash? Would this affect any other helicopter reaching the island?

Hmm... This probably belongs in another thread.... but
I didn't think this latest helicopter crashed. I don't know why it didn't just land, but maybe there's just not a good clear spot where the Losties are now. But, crash? Did I miss something so obvious?
