Why would Oceanic keep helping them?

Somebody far down the posting trail suggested he's an off-island Other. This makes a lot of sense to me. He'd want to know if his brethren on the island were still alive.

You mean like Richard?  Richard and Ethan were really the only two that we've seen both on island and off island....  Could be I guess.

I still am feeling a "scarier than the Others" vibe when I see the Mr Abaddon....I think he's far worse than any Other.  I watched 4x01 two more times today and was always just as scared of him as I was last week upon seeing it the first time.

The "deal" that was cut with the 6 rescuees is probably one of silence.  Oceanic probably already told the world that the plane was found in the ocean with everyone dead.  The 6 are probably under orders not to tell anyone the truth.

There can't be silence if their identity as the "Oceanic Six" is known.  It's public knowledge that they are the survivors, hence, everyone was not "found dead".  So the "truth" about the island I agree is the reason for the silence, but anything about the crash, it's survivors (or it's non-survivors) is now public knowledge.

Yup, like Richard and Ethan. The cover story for Greta and Bonnie was that they were on assignment in Canada. I think we can assume there are Others who have presumably been stranded off island since the hatch imploded.
