Okay, the guy was definitely not Oceanic. Got it.  Did Hurley really believe that he was?  Like, did he believe the guy at first?  Why would he if he's so paranoid about keeping whatever "secrets" he's got going on?  weird weird weird.  Undecided

Hurley believed it at first. At least that's my take. He's very trusting, but has trouble keeping a secret. He's let a few slip over the course of the show.

Held onto this one though, at least for now.

I don't think there's any huge Oceanic conspiracy.  I'd need a lot more than a "golden pass" from the airline that crashed me to be bribed.  And I think that's why that's all they took were the passes (if that is all they got), because if they sued and demanded lots of compensation, then people would start to look more closely at the crash and at their stories.  This way, the airline feels they've covered themselves and the 6 feel like their secret is safe.

'Juliet' was on The View the other day and about the only thing she offered up about the show was that people will be surprised to find out that the characters they thought were good are really in fact really evil. Or words along them lines.

Yeah - I recorded it and that truly was the only thing she said that was any good.  I thought it probably was good info....but then again I tend to look at everything "LOST" anymore with the notion that there is some hidden meaning or hidden fact that needs to be analyzed.  Hope I don't wind up like Hurley....

So what about that "lawyer"? He was called "Abbadon" which means destruction.

No comments at all?

the two schools of thought:

a) the dude really was a lawyer representing Oceanic and the fact that he was shouting about being a member of the Oceanic 6 could be very upsetting for a company because not only is he in a group that got their semi-fame from this airline's "mistake," but he is bringing up old news that can be detrimental to the company's reputation.  If I were working for Oceanic's Public Relations department, I certainly would want to make sure that this "nut-case" was looked after closely so that he doesn't go shouting about how the whole experience traumatized him for life and would send someone to check it out.

b) The dude was not working for Oceanic at all and was a member of some other organization (like the company that sent the boat to look for the island).  They heard about Hurley's outburst and were going to try to use this oppourtunity to get some answers like what happened to their people (maybe they got stranded on the island or killed) hence the "are they still alive comment.

thanks for putting the 2 in a post together.  (a) doesn't make much sense to me.  if hurley were to start saying how he was traumatized, they could completely discredit him since he was at SRMHI BEFORE the plane crash.  i just don't think that (a) is even a possiblility.

DOES ANYONE THINK THE LAWYER WAS TELLING THE TRUTH, THAT HE REALLY DOES WORK FOR OCEANIC?

Quote from: BibleGateway.com
Revelation 9

1The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. 2When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. 3And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. 4They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.

7The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. 8Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. 9They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. 10They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. 11They had as king over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek, Apollyon.

I'm totally going to "out" myself but it's all cool to me, and I forgot to recognize all the religious mysticism in the name - for it's my name too.  No, not some lame gameplay pseudonym but my actual name.  I'd post a cap of my driver's license but then I'd have to kill you.  LOL  Anyway, my last name is Abaddon.  So it was funny to me.  (And yes, there are occasionally superstitious dips who refuse to do business with me when they find out.  Come on, it's just seven letters, folks...boogabooga!  LOL)  Maybe I'll get off my lazy ass and cap some ID anyway...

What if Naomi's boat was not a rescue boat but a dharma boat?

Was Naomi planted on the island to infiltrate/observe/report whatever back to the non-Other dharma people., but acted like a rescuer as a cover story?

Just my two cents - Okay I get that maybe oceanic owed them a huge debt for crashing their plane and stranding them on an obscure island for so long, but why help them now?

They got "gold" passes - seems fitting.  But why would a lawyer for Oceanic be concerned that Hurley's in a mental hospital?  It seriously would not be their problem anymore.  They maybe forked over some money, gold passes for all, and would usually wash their hands of the whole mess.  No, they wouldn't keep tabs on them and be concerned about the Oceanic 6's continuing mental state.  Obviously, he probably wasn't from Oceanic, but even if he was, or whoever he was with, they want some answers from our Rescued.

But are we really supposed to believe that the airline is still concerned with them?  Highly doubtful.

obviously the guy in the mental hospital was not from oceanic.. hence, 'forgetting his business card'. The guy is probably from some government agency, (maybe even dharma? hanso?) who wants more information on who is alive

when he asks, "are they still alive"

while watching i thought he meant the other plane crash victims... but perhaps he's referring to the dharma people that ben killed when he was younger!! exciting stuff.
