He can sing, he just chooses to do it in an overly dramatic, over the top, obnoxious screaming way.

I saw to people perform tonight. One was a talented singer who interpreted the songs. I also could understand what he was singing. The other guy pummeled the songs to death with a sledge hammer. Over singing, destroying the melodies until he could get to his screaming conclusion. Could he just look like he is enjoying himself once/

I will the reader decide who was who.


Remember, Taylor Hicks won this competition and he is just a very good wedding band singer.

There is nothing wrong with being dramatic--his roots are in the theater...and you can't expect him to drop that--it's what he does.  I love it.  If you think he screams everything, you are crazy.  I didn't know what to think of Adam in the beginning (back when he did that creepy version of Ring Of Fire)...but since then, I have come to see what a brilliant artist he is.

I agree party when it comes to Taylor Hicks--I didn't think he had a snowball's chance in hell at winning American Idol...but, like I said, I will be surprised at nothing with this show.  I did think he had a fantastic performance of "Levon"---but other than that, I don't remember any of his other songs.  ((His record label also dropped him...so, there's your answer as to why...))

As for tonight:

Round one....loved both of them.
Round two...didn't like either much...I didn't like Adam's interpretation of the song, and I didn't like Kris singing Marvin Gaye--I don't blame either of them though, it was all song-choice to me..and Simon Fuller failed at that.
Round three....the song was heinous.  Adam sang it slightly better than Kris...but, really, what could either of them do?

Kara was SO proud of herself.  I wanted to slap her, tell she's obnoxious--and suggest plastic surgery to fix her ugly face.

I love that the Hatchster is sticking up to the Jugster   We all have our opinions and that is what is great about a democracy!  All of our opinions count if we care to vocalize them and/or vote.

I would like to ask if either one of you has seen Taylor Hicks live?  He is AMAZING live!  A true entertainer!  That being said, I understand the conversation and both point of views, but until you see him with your own two eyes (lol) then spare me of your opinions   Sometimes musicians are just better live, he would be great in a Vegas show.

Now, as for tonight:
Round One:  Loved Adam singing Mad World, and props to Shakey! for noting it, but I preferred (surprisingly) Kris's "Ain't no sunshine".

Round Two:  Adam won hands down.  His vocals were amazing on Change is Gonna Come.  In fact, quote me here, I would say that was the best vocal to date on Idol.  I'm a singer and he blew me away!  It was perfection.

Round Three:  That song just sucked a big fat hiney!!!  What a way to eff up a finale, ridiculous!  Let me tell you how I really feel  

Summary:  I was so proud of Kris!  He really stepped up his game and proved why he deserved to be in the final.  Based on his first song, I think he would be a viable, great selling, artist.  I can't wait to hear what he comes out with!  But Adam, to me, has proved time and again that he is the real thing.  He can turn any song into a hit.  It makes no difference what the outcome of tomorrow's result show will be, he will be successful (not iconic, yet!).

I haven't seen Taylor Hicks live...and i'm not hating on him---I agree, he would be a good Las Vegas act.  I never hated his dancing around, or his adorable "Soul Patrol" slogan. 

As for Adam's performance of Change is Gonna Come--I didn't like what he did with it at all.  I didn't feel any true emotion, I felt like he was forcing it in places.  It felt desperate--but more of a "I better get in some intense high notes somewhere in here..."
I am a singer as well--and I felt like it was far from perfection--and absolutely not the best performance that has ever been on Idol.

I sooo agree about Kara's song!  I was hoping for something decent than what's been coming there recently, since she has written a couple of pretty good songs, but this was just not one of them!  It seemed like Friday night the producers said hey Kara can you churn out a song by morning?  And then dumped it on the finalists.  If I had been the voting type, I would have voted for Adam.

I will not call anyone a brilliant artist until they are writing their own material and putting out their own music.

I can and have faulted him for being to theatrical. I don't like that style and music is all about what you like and enjoy. My daughter and son were laughing because you could see him getting all revved up for his big screeching notes at the end of his second song. Where he just screams and you can not undrstand the words at all.

Round 1 was Kris
Round 2 was Kris (I thought Adam had one of his worse performances during that song)
Round 3 Adam ( I agree with everyone that it was a horrible horrible song)

I also agree that Kara needs to be slapped. She couldn't even control herself over her horrible song. She thinks every statement she makes is brilliant, when they are not!!

I can not speak for Hatchy, but I am not upset with her at all. Just a difference of musical preferences.

Wow...as an Adam fan from the beginning all I can say is he rocks! Paul Stanley still looks ok (under his makeup) but poor Gene Simmons could only manage to stand there with his tongue hanging!

That was probably the best Idol Finale show yet though...I liked it.

I'll still defend that Adam has a superior range and voice. Kris is fine, and at times he hit it, but he just can't sing as well as Adam. Although, not many of today's popular singers can actually sing! I pretty much thought Kris would win because I figured most of Danny's votes would go to him. Lots of teenage girls too!

I thought it was a fun final....although, it was the first I've watched! I started watching this season because my co-worker is a friend of Matt Giraud's, but from the start I was awed by Adam. After Matt went I started voting for Adam. I'm sure he will make it big anyway.

My wife was certain Adam would win... I told her that I thought it'd be Kris.  My reason being that I didn't think the majority of callers would be into his theatrics.  I can appreciate his vocal range and his talent.  It's his over-the-top approach to the songs (typically) that gave me reason to believe he wouldn't win.  I'm really glad Kris won because it'll give him that much more of a chance to succeed.  Adam's going nowhere... he didn't need to win the competition to have success.

I loved loved loooooved that duet with Cindi Lauper and Allison!!!!  Cindi's lap dulcimer is awesome!

I'm glad bikini girl sang.  She was awful! and she needs to hear herself on video so she'll know just how bad a singer she is.  She missed every single note.  Also, I think Tatiana's appearance was scripted.  Ryan said he really had to go to commercial and then Tatiana got up on stage and took over in a very pushy way.  There was a big show about trying to escort her off the stage, but if Ryan and the director really didn't want to give her airtime they would have cut to a commercial.  It seemed phoney to me.
