I think what we're going to get is a mix of the two. We aren't going to know when it is anymore. NOT that we ever did! We're going to be confused by the writers as to the actual temporal relationship of events that occur on the show. Again, nothing new. However, I do believe that the writers will concoct a new way of doing "flashbacks" and "flashforwards." Only fools are enslaved by time and space. Right?
