I find it interesting that Annie says during the hostile attack to young Ben "Don't worry it's just the hostiles, we'll be okay".
This makes me wonder if Annie has seen worse things than the Hostiles on the Island. If the Hostiles are the worse thing Annie has seen on the Island.....she wouldn't have said "It's >Just< the hostiles". I would figure Hostiles with guns attacking their home would be a pretty significant threat in the Dharma children's eyes. Perhaps Annie has seen smokie before and she's more freaked out about it then the hostiles?

I suspect, rather than she having seen worse, she's seen several "Hostiles" attacks and is used to the dril, hence all the children and their teaching being drilled into a routine.

I'm starting to think that the "hostile attacks" are faked by Dharma as yet one more aspect of controlling its citizens, kind of like "The Village" and their alledged monsters that roam the perimiter. They were fake and used by the elders of the village to keep people from discovering the civilization that existed outside of their borders.

Actually that's a good point: how did the "hostiles" get through the sonic barrier?

Regarding the fence it seems to that Ben and probably other Dharma members aided the Indigenous people with things like gas mask and killer gas canisters. We also see Ben with the code to the fence so we know he can disable it. What does seem odd is that with all of the surveillance and security no can detect that a fence is turned off?? Most everything else seems to be monitored in some way.

well, Ben said that he and few manageed to not be in the hole of bodies - its possible that other dharma had been "compromised" like Ben, and were letting the hostiles in, could it have been Tom, or even Goodwin who had been compromised and were disabling the sonic fence??

remember that we never saw them inside... they probably werent there in the first place. where did they get guns in the first place? I think they were faked, and they were not purged, they left, they maybe had implants like clair did to make them appear dead....

Maybe the Hostiles are some unseen group still. When young Ben used the word Hostile to Richard didn't Richard ask Ben why he called him a Hostile or something like that? Richard seemed anything but hostile when Ben met him. He even told young Ben he should go back rather than abduct or attack him. Maybe they ARE the good guys, as Ben told Michael, and it is just Ben who is bad. Maybe the hostiles are the bad guys.

well, other than Ben, Mikail obviously escaped from the purge, as he said himself, and probably Annie escaped too.. (we should find out later) 'bout the hostiles, i do think Richard is one, but how did they manage to get such material? (face mask, gas canisters, gold watches?

i think it's highly possible that she hasn't "seen" other hostile attacks but is prepared for them. much like we, in oklahoma, are prepared for tornados. our kids in school have numerous tornado drills so that everyone knows where to go, where to sit, what to do in the event of a tornado. most have never seen a tornado. none have actually hit HERE where i live, but it doesn't mean they won't. we are prepared. just as the others were prepared. they prepared their kids in the event of a "hostile attack" hence, the drill and the siren.

I dont see the significance in "just" because that is what you use to down play something, even if you are unsure or scared yourself.
That is just the dog barking outside. It is just a shadow on the ceiling. In Ben's case, "Daddy is just drunk and missing Momma." LOL
I think "Just" is not that important.
