Why make a secret room in the medical facility? Who would you be hiding it from? It seemed like it was a bomb shelter almost, as thick as the doors looked.

I don't think that really explains anything. Why have a secret room with Fort Knox doors for a room where people die? People die in hospitals all the time. Hospitals don't have that feature. Perhaps there is something related to the death which requires them to be isolated (contagion?)? Or perhaps they want to keep the deaths secret from the rest of the Others somehow? But that second idea is a little hard to rationalize.

I mean when it was originally built. If Dharma and the others are seperate, what was the original purpose of the room. Why would Dharma need to hide on the island(hide what and from who)?
Also, I thought that was a pretty weak explanation. If you put someone in a secret room they still die. If the Others are all scientist, they wouldn't need to hide a dying woman in labor.

Maybe it was like a prison, the other mother's didn't willingly become test subjects? It also looked like a storage room.... nothing looked very organized.

Having the secret room thing at the Staff is kinda creepy. How many other hatches have these secret rooms? Does the arrow? Or the fake camp we saw with the Others? Did it have a secret door leading to a new room?

What better way to die? Rather than in a dank, dark hatch cell, you can die in a dank, dark SECRET hatch cell.

Wasn't it the same room Claire was abducted in? The crib looked familiar.

In terms of the organization, it looks like they basically just used it as a storage room since they cleared out. Remember, when Claire was being kept there, we saw that Crib in her (?) room. We saw that mobile hanging over it, in a nicely laid out nursery of some sort. There was also tons of medical equipment in the now vacant opperating room. All the stuff was cleared into that secret room, in case the castaways discovered the hatch. Which they did.

It was the same stuff as Clarie's room, but she had a different one. I think anyhow, the door Ethan came through to see claire looked regular.

Maggie your correct. Claire went through a regular door on the right hand side of the hall.
As far as the secret room - no need - there are only so many people on the island - if they are smart enought to be the worlds brightest scientist then surely they would notice someone balloning up and then disappearing forever.

All the stuff was stored in the extra room. Shows that it was easily made to look "abandoned"

hrmmm, why did the Swan have blast doors?? incase of an incident exactly why the medical hatch has the bomb room so people in there could protect themselves if need be from an incident, but in this case they just used it to clear out the stuff they didn't want anyone to see it's quit a simple answer if you really think about it. alot better then the others carry all that stuff thru the jungle LOL

Maybe its just me, but I was really hoping that when that blast door opened we'd get a glimpse of the underground tunnels and I would once again be vindicated!!!!
