On This Island, Wounds Are A Bit Different....
« on: April 26, 2007, 12:27:51 AM »
Is Mikail suggesting that the various islands have differing healing abilities?

Is this healing the explanation for why the one eyed snake is still around?

Why didn't Boone, Marshall Guy, Libby, and etc. get healed?

Is there a proximity effect?  If so, proximity to WHAT?

If Mikail got fixed up, why is Ben still sick?

Well Crap on a stick then - because Tweedle Dee (Nikki) and Tweedle Dumb (Paulo) weren't dead.

Mikhail is living according to the island, and the island is angry with Ben...

If Mikhail hadn't helped Naomi, then she would die. Boone, Libby, Marshall, and Ana-Lucia were beyond help. Having a punctured lung and getting it fixed is different than getting a bullet in the stomach.

True. But what about the Boone thing? Jack was working on him for a really long time.  Many, many hours, even stretching into 2 days if I recall (it's been a while since I watched season 1).  So why didn't he get better faster? Does it have something to do with stabilizing the injury before it can heal maybe?

Some injuries are deadly, some are not.

I like the proximity theory, he must have been close to the healing source. Maybe another reason the Others don't like goung to the beach too often.

Boone's body was beyond healing. That's why he died.

So, you're guessing that Boone would have died no matter what? Because, during the episode, Jack gave us ever reason to believe that he thought he could have saved him if he just had proper equipment and wasn't trying to perform surgery with pocket knives in the dark, on a beach.

It was beyond healing with the tools that were available... and he was saying MAYBE if he had all the tools....

Patchy is alive because he was never truely dead.  Perhaps he was just unconscious or in a coma.  Who knows.  But I don't think he actually died and came back alive.  And what's most important, I think he knew that he wouldn't be killed in the fence.

Just an observation. If you can recover from a punctured lung in a day or two, and be up wandering through the jungle like Tarzan after a week then how come it took the losties injuries they sustained in the crash so long to heal?  Those seem pretty superficial compared to a branch sticking out of your gut.
