Or maybe a staged plane crash was planted so that no one would search for the real survivors. Or maybe she came from a parallel universe where they didn't survive the crash. For now, I'll go with the simplest explanation that a plane crash was found and planted by the Others to look like flight 815, maybe in the ocean, but that no survivors were found, probably assumed dead.

Good theory. For the sake of saying that the show hasn't jumped the shark, I'll agree with you, even though I don't think that the Others knew about the crash until it crashed, so making an exact copy of the plane in short order would be rather difficult...

Not unless you were "in" with a corporation like Paik Automotives/Paik Heavy Industries. I don't think the Others knew it was going to crash, but I think that was exactly what Mikhail was doing when we saw him watching the monitors. I think he was planning the cover-up for the Others, or Dharma, or Mittelos, or whomever was behind it. |

i have trouble believing that flight 815 has been found and that everyone aboard was dead. this would mean that the island is some sort or purgatory/afterlife, which i think is impossible if only for one reason: juliette was recruited to go to the island by Ethan and Richard. this means that at one point people were actually capable of leaving the island. last time i checked, you can't just get up and leave purgatory whenever you feel like it, and you certainly can't bring guests back with you.

Yeah, the exact plane copy issue is what throws me off too. But all they really would need to do is leave random plane debris in the ocean and duplicate something like a serial number or black box. We saw their plane break up and crash countless times in flashbacks like in the beginning of this season so we know that they really did crash on the island. And I think it has pretty much been proven that there isn't any difference between time on the island versus time outside the island. And there isn't any missing time period that's unaccounted for, like if the losties were put in stasis and the whole "waking up from the crash" was staged, especially since Kate says she was conscious the whole time during the crash. I'm trying to avoid getting into dimensional theories.

I think I'm definitely going with an Other coverup (though I agree they didn't know about the crash beforehand), however I think that the alternate universe theorists are going to go NUTS with this.
Damn that was a great ending.

Plus the producers have said they're not dead and that it isn't purgatory. Plus, how does someone already dead die again in purgatory? I actually like the purgatory idea though. It would be a nice twist, except that people have been speculating that since season one and the producers have denied it. |
