Yeah,

I just found that same screencap in the pre-epi spoilers.  But, I don't think the background is clear enough to assume that she's on the island.  I just think Desmond assumed so because it was in flashbacks related to Charlie dying again.  The main thing seems to be that he saw a newer picture of them than the one he had.  Which DID happen, from the pilots book.  I think he just jumped to conclusions, rather than that the outcome was changed because he saved Charlie.

Desmound has been given the sight of possible future happenings. Des had a flash that as he puts it "is like a puzzle in peices"
So maybe Desmound has visions of A and B
A = Charlie dead
B = Charlie lives
Is it not to say that Des didn't see both at the same time in his flashes and that's why Des is so confussed.

I don't think Penny is ever/was ever going to the island....Des was confused by the flash of the picture of him and Penny. He was only thinking linear, as Penny IS looking for him, but she isn't looking for him  personally. (she has super double top secret heligopters to do that) Des is confused thinking Penny is out looking for him herself....

First off I would like to say hi and thanks for a good forum!

While I was watching this episode I noticed that Penny appears for a really short time in Desmonds visions in the beginnning (0:02:49). My first guess was that she would be the one hanging from the trees but it turns out to be someone else, aka Naomi. Maybe we havent seen all the visions Desmond had come to reality yet, maybe Penny is still to be found on the island. Naomi says that she isnt alone, could it be Penny who joined her?

I thought that by looking closer at the shot of Penny maybe we could see something familiar from the island in the background and therefore tell whether she's there or not. To my surprise, it looks like a white toilet in the background... Is Desmonds vision from the past or the future? From the island or off the island? Will Desmon finally meet Penny, somewhere near a toilet?
