The wine was bottled in 1995 and he meets Pen at the same time. He is with Pen for 2 yrs.(he said it in Widmore's office) That makes it 1997. He hit the island in 2001 and is their for 3 yrs. making it 2004.
Where has he been from 1997 to 2001?

I'm not a enologist, but placing the label upon a bottle of 1995 Cab, doesn't mean that it is currently 1995.  Normally, you barrel or bottle age the stuff and stick the label on shortly before shipment.  It could be any year after 1995 shown in Desmond's flashbacks.

Again, placing a label upon a 1995 vintage wine does not mean that it's 1995.  You place the label when you bottle it and ship it.  The scene could have been from 2001, 2002, 2003, etc.

he was in the serivce as well after that was in the military prison and was on the island for three years before our guys came in 2004.

Why do you think Des was in jail?  My theory is that he refused to go to war in Iraq.

My theory is that he saw a flash of the future. He disobeyed orders to save lives. But he could not explain this to his superiors. He probably did not understand it himself at the time.So he was labeled as a coward and convicted of refusing to follow orders.

Did anybody catch that the crates in which Desmond was placing the wine are labelled 1989?  The vintage on the wine is 1995....so why put a different year upon the crates?  Also, the label states that the production was to be of 500 bottles.  If one figures 108 cases, that means there is only about 4.9 bottles per case....Prop errors?
