Satellite Phone ~ Batteries dead?
« on: April 19, 2007, 10:27:54 AM »

If you notice, the warning message says internal error... Maybe the batteries weren't out, and the Island was actually preventing the phone from working ("after the sky turned purple, all our communications have been down")

Its possible the anomally is affecting the batteries, or the fall of the phone from a great height. If you drop batteries from a certain height they can loose there charge from the impact.

Right, but a fall that great would probably damage the phone itself...

Sayid will wire the battery from the walkie talkie into the sat phone.

The thing I'm saying is that even if they do fix the batteries, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO USE THE PHONE

One of two scenarios will happen.  The Satellite phone will not work despite a fresh battery and the survivors will investigate why there are wires running out into the ocean to discover a eletromagnetic perimeter  OR  The Sat phone won't work because the losties are in another world in which nobody has a sat phone and thus there's nobody to talk to.

None of the communications equipment in the Flame is working.  I don't see why the sat phone would.

Maybe because it was not on the island during the EMP and therefore not subjected to the damage it caused (nor did Locke blow it up).

The whole time I have been reading this thread all I can think of is:

Can ya hear me?  Can ya hear me, now?

To quote Jeff Specollie here, " Dude my dad is a TV repair man, he has a awesome set of tools. He can fix anything."
I think that there is a bubble around the island that is jamming the signal. If you remember Sayid has a radio when they trys to pin point the relaid messages from Rousso. Sayid receives a message from Boone in the plane saying "We were on flight 815."
radio to radio on island = works
sat phone to pizza hut = NA AH
