When Juliette first comes to the island ( still pondering ) she climbs out of the sub aand it appears that the scene shows land all the way around. That would make it a lake. Also notice how the water is perfectly still. No waves. Nothin'. Does anyone else think that a sub could be in a lake? Blondes need not reply.  Grin

The sub is not in a lake. It might be in a sheltered bay, which would make the water less disturbed...

well, they did arrive in a submarine, so there must be an underwater tunnel leading to the lake.  maybe that's why ethan says that the last part of the journey is a little bumpy.

and, this would also explain how locke and alex got to the sub without having to deal with the sonic fence.

That underwater tunnel would be cool, I was thinking something like a lake because when we look at the othersville you dont see the ocean close

why couldn't the sub be in a lake?  maybe they take the plane to a certain location, ON ISLAND, then take the sub accross the lake.  it makes sense to me as a possiblity.  it would be easier to take a sub across a large lake than to walk around the lake.  i know what you are thinking, "why not a boat then?"  maybe for some reason they want to be submerged, so no one see's them (or nothing...  the moster).  maybe it is a lake in the middle of the island, the FLOATING island.  (who's theory was that?  that the island is like alcatraz and floating rather than anchored?)  they have to take the sub UNDER the outer edge of the island and come up in the lake in the middle.  (sort of like  a donut floating in the ocean.)

It's just a lagoon or bay.

Remember that there is a cable running into the ocean thats connected to a sonar transmitter, which apparently is used to guide in the sub. Why would they need this if they took a plane to the island?

lagoon makes more sense on an Island. but if i would rather be a lagoon, access to the sea, not isolated like a lonely lake. unless were talkin minnesota  Wink

It is possible to have a body of water inland that is fed by the ocean. I was thinking more along the lines of an underwater tunnel system or caves. the water in the episode is dead calm.

I'll say again....Mikail got to the island by the sub....Juliet got there by the sub....but, that submarine never moves.  Just a hunch.
