Genetic changes can't be made in the born, only the unborn.
Juliet had no part in the overthrow of Dharma and Ben, not the most athletic of specimens, would have been about twelve.

I don't see why genetic changes can't happen to them now. Sorry puff, but YOU weren't recruited for the worlds smartest minds in the Dharma project! Who is to say that they haven't found a way to do that?

Ya, spider man, the hulk, the fantastic four, etc. were all characters who derived incredible powers from "accidents" that altered their DNA. Such explanations were taking full license with the mysteries of DNA. Unfortunately, we now understand how complex DNA reactions are and even simple gene therapies remain largely experimental.
If you start messing around with an adult's DNA....splicing, mutating, radiating....you don't get superhuman, you die. You don't create new abilities, you induce cancer.
If you want to play around with DNA, you selectively breed. Perhaps there is some samples of super-sperm around and they needed Juliet to get that test-tube working.

I hold to the fact that they either had to be strong to overthrow the original Dharma during the purge or they are genetically altered in some way. I don't think it has anything to do with the 'magic box.' I actually wish we would stop calling it that.

I think it is unreasonable to fully accept the theory that the others have discovered a way to manipulate time but not human genes.
Mikhail also seemed to be away from othersville most of the time. If there is some serum the others use.... maybe he didn't have access.

Well so far Locke can wak after being paralyzed, Rose thinks her cancer has healed, stuff that would be imposible in the real world....but on this island it seems to be working for them...once again its a TV show...lets roll with the genetic changes....
