For the record- I believe he is alive, so, admittedly, I process any new information is through that presupposition.   I do TRY my darnedest, however, to be objectice & analytical.  I totally agree with Juggy that Juliet is either lying or is reiterating a lie that has been fed to her.

The spiders are COMPLETELY tied to Jack's dad faking his death in Australia.   They were making the point that Jack seeing Christian in the morgue is no longer admissible as evidence.  I believe that there are drugs that can duplicate the venom's effect, however, & that a spider didn't really bite Christian.  That would just be dumb.  lol

the venom only paralyzed you for 8 hours.  christian's body was in the morgue/casket for a little wee bit longer than 8 hours.  maybe the spider bit him 12 times in 8 your intervals all the while keeping him hydrated and allowing him to micturate/defecate where appropriate.  guilt, guilt, guilt.

Christian only needed to appear dead for long enough for Jack to ID him.  The morgue personnel could have been paid off or intimidated into playing along.  Christian was never in that casket.

OK, pretend for one second that he is alive.  You say that he was out for atleast more than 8 hours, but the only time we saw his "dead" body was in the morge for around a minute. 

Jack tried to get his body and the coffin on the plain, the lady told him that he couldnt because the body didnt have the correct documentation.  Which to me is something like time of death and stuff like that, but im not sure.  So if the airlines rules are you have to have the certain documents to get a dead body on the plane, there not going to let him on the plane without him.  Especially after 9-11, I know that was in America but im pretty sure rules all over the rule became more strict.

I think there was no one in that casket period and that is why they let him on.  I think I heard there is a Jack flashback coming up and it would be awesome for them to show more of this convo in the airport.

The line about the spider was not the point that they used spiders to make him look dead, but that not even a doctor would know that he is dead.

I read somewhere in this forum that they think we will find a body with ID on him that says Christian Shepard to confirm that he is dead.  This cant happen because he didnt take his wallet with him.  (Jack found it in Christians hotel room.)

I just got an idea.  To the believers that Christian is alive, I think we need to make a big long list of statements or scenes which have occured.  So if you wanna participate PM me your lines or scenes and i will make a list and put it in the lost talk thread or something like that.

Yeah, I am kind of wishy-washy on this issue.  I just like SO MANY of the theories concerning Christian's life-status, I can't decide.  I believe the writers have certain times when they tell you the straight-up truth, so I can see people putting a lot of faith in the significance of the "Christian's CORPSE" comment.  At the same time, I believe they strongly foreshadow things on the show, and giving us a spider venom that makes you appear dead for eight hours is just a damn waste if you only use it for Nikki and Paulo, so I like the theory that Christian wasn't dead in the first place and was never in the coffin.

And, of course, there's my theory that the Island can, in certain circumstances, bring people back from the dead.  Now, somebody said that if Christian was alive then all the people who have died must also be alive.  Not true.  As I said, the Island can only revive people under certain circumstances, and there are some things that it can't or won't fix.

So, I guess the bottom line is that I'm 2 to 1 in favor of Christian still being alive.

My theory is that everyone on the plane died on impact.  The chances of surviving a mid-air breakup are astronomically bad.  The fact that so many people seem to have survived is very suspect.  So, that's like 50 people or so right there.

Very much expecting this. But don't worry Christian lives theory is still alive.

Two explanations for Juliet's statement.

1) She is a liar. She lies all the time. She lied about the key to the handcuffs. Lied about the monster, lied about being out there. How did she know the fence was off?

2) She, and the others, truely believe Christian is dead. See Christian faked his death. They got the forged autopsy report so they believe he is dead. The others were fooled also.

Just a few piints for the Christian is Dead people to debat:
1) Why does Christian show up in more people's flashbacks than anyone else?
2) Why are we shown that Christian didn't have his wallet with him when he died? He was found in an alley. How many people can continue to buy alcohol without their wallet? I think there was money and credit cards in his wallet.
3) Why did Jack lack the proper paper work to take his father's body on the plane? What papers do you need? A death certifcate? A cornorers report? What? I really don't know, but Jack didn't have it.
4) Jack doesn't find the body when he looks in the casket. WHY? Where did the body go?
Are there a band of roving grave diggers roaming the island?
5) Jack is obsessed with his father (as are most of the Losties). We see Locke get to confront his father. Maybe we see more people get to confront theirs? Maybe Kate meets up with Sgt Austen? Don't forget that we now know that Christian is the father of TWO survivors.
6) Eko's miracle girl. She was dead... The cornorer even thought so and she popped up alive. Another foreshadowing of what? It can't be a throw away event.
7) Spiders... Why show them? So the bite is 8 hours, who thinks the spiders actually bit Christian? Maybe someone made a drug out of the venom and it lasts longer?

There has to be a pay off somewhere on Christian. We have seen him so many times in flashbacks. He has to show up again somewhere. As far as the island healing people, who has it healed? Only Locke? Rose? Is she cured? We don't really know. Maybe Locke could walk after all. Maybe he never had faith to try to walk. If the Island really did cure him, then why couldn't it bring someone back to life that only died of a heart attack?
I don't expect the island to bring back Boone because he was too badly crushed, or Anna Lucia, Libby or Shannon, they were shot and have been buried for a while. Christian was a corpse in a coffin. Who knows what the island can do? We DON'T know yet. Let's see what can happen, before we close the door on Christian is dead.

Good post.  I think you've got me almost convinced that Christian is alive.
The one and only thing that stops me from going whole heart into this theory is WHY would he still be alive?  (no need to answer, I'm sure there are other posts out there I can check...unless someone has it handy...?)
